COMMUNITY Waterloo is a beautiful northeastern Iowa city located on the banks of the picturesque Cedar River. The city has a population of 67,587. It is the county seat of Blackhawk County and is 55 miles northwest of Cedar Rapids and 128 miles northeast of Des Moines. Waterloo is the larger part of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls metropolitan area.

Waterloo is located at the north end of . U.S. Highways 20, 63, and 218 and also run through the metropolitan area. The runs through Waterloo. American Airlines provides non-stop air service to and from from the Waterloo Regional Airport. Waterloo is also served by a metropolitan bus system (MET). MET serves most areas of Cedar Falls and Waterloo.

The Riverfront Renaissance Project is near completion adding the new RiverLoop Expo Plaza, Public Market, riverfront trails, and amphitheater. The Main Street District has also added new restaurants, housing, and shopping venues. Downtown Waterloo is home to the new Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum, which is part of the Grout Museum District; the Phelps Youth Pavilion; the Waterloo Center for the Arts; and the Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute and Museum. It is a city with a diverse population, many of which are hard-working, middle class people. The racial makeup of the city in the 2010 census was 77.3% White, 15.5% African American, and 5.6% Hispanic. The largest industries are John Deere, Tyson Meats, University of Northern Iowa, Allen Hospital, Waterloo Community Schools, Con Agra, International Paper, and Bertch Cabinets.

Hawkeye Community College is located in Waterloo. Neighboring Cedar Falls is home to the University of Northern Iowa. The three public high schools in the city are Waterloo West High School, Waterloo East High School, and Expo High School. There is also a wide array of elementary and junior high schools in the area, with open enrollment available. CONGREGATION Open Bible Church was founded by evangelists and revivalists in 1930. It has been pastored by some of Open Bible’s finest leaders. This congregation has had a vital relationship with Open Bible Churches since its beginning, supporting its ministries and missionaries. They have sent out numerous ministers and missions’ teams. The church has been through a season of renewal for the past 8 years and is ready for a season of growth. Sanctuary Currently, the church attendance is running between 35 and 40 on Sunday mornings. It is a close-knit community that has modeled itself as an Acts 2 church. The worship is Contemporary mixed in with Traditional. There is also a midweek service. They are currently being served by a Lead Pastor, Children’s Pastor (His wife), and youth pastor. There is also a service for Burmese people led by a member of the congregation every Sunday.

The building includes a sanctuary, offices, nursery, Kids room, youth room, full court gymnasium, and kitchen. The church has a digital sign with great visibility on the freeway with 40,000 cars driving by Youth Room each day. Youth Room

The church is also home of SonRise Christian School and Daycare. For 36 years, SonRise has provided Christian Education and Child Care to the Cedar Valley. Currently they have a Daycare and Preschool Program. The school’s Director is a member of the church and has served in that capacity for 6 years.
