In recent years, although the interpretation of the separation of church and state has removed all spiritual queries from the hallways, educators and educational researchers are seeing that spiritual conversation centered around: purpose, meaning, and existence are absolutely necessary for the development of young people.

For some young people school means opportunity, or it’s the means to become a functioning adult in society. But for some schools perpetuates the oppressive nature of our society, ostracizing on the basis of color, class, or gender. To address the latter, educational reformers are interested in fighting for equality in schools, but without Christ’s sacrifice and Spirit we know it is impossible for there to be equity, love, and justice. As a church, let’s have conversations regarding the inequality we see around us. The need for a transformative message, a message that exalts God rather than any one human group over another, is imperative for this world.
