Too, a cornmittee fro,rn the society is now appointeC and working to prepare either for publication, or to subrnit ,to the nation's b; centennial commission, and for availability to the public throu,gh our library any hitherto unpublished his,torical mateiial in whic,i rhis region is so rich and has been so neglected. Hobart, Governor John W. Griggs and Vice,Chancellor Eugene Stevenson, who served this society as its first president. Another outstandlng accomplishrnent of the past yeat is _the additicn of nearly 400 books to our library, through the unselfish zeal of our library agent, D" S. Hammcnd. This draft report is a work-in- progress. This draft has neither been reviewed nor approved by the chairman or members of the GSPT board. The director's draft is being posted in parts as they are completed to make the information publicly available pending submission, review and final approval by the GSPT board. Garden State Preservation Trust Fiscal Year 2011 DRAFT Annual Report This is the Annual Report of the Garden State Preservation Trust for the Fiscal Year 2011 from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011. It has always been goal and mission of the Garden State Preservation Trust to place preservation first. This report reflects that priority. The most common suggestion concerning prior annual reports was to give more prominent placement to statistics about land preservation. This report is structured to place the preservation data first and to provide it in unprecedented detail. Information and financial data concerning GSPT financing, recent appropriations and agency operations are contained in the chapters which follow the acreage tables. This is to be construed as the full annual report of the Garden State Preservation Trust for the 2011 Fiscal Year in compliance with P.L. 1999 C.152 section 8C-15. It is also intended to be a comprehensive summary of required financial reporting from FY2000 through FY2011. This document updates the financial and statistical tables contained in prior annual reports.

LEVEL: Non-entry LOCATION: Dey Mansion Washington’s Headquarters, Wayne, NJ The Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs (DCHA) creates and maintains a flourishing cultural landscape throughout Passaic County. As the designated proponent for the County’s heritage and the agent for arts and history programming, the DCHA is responsible for developing, promoting, and implementing an extensive public programs calendar and heritage tourism campaign to encourage public awareness and visitation to the County’s various historic sites. Included in these sites are the Dey Mansion Washington’s Headquarters, Hamilton House Museum, Lambert Tower, Lambert Castle, Passaic County Arts Center at the John W. Rea House, Westervelt-Vanderhoef House, Passaic County Court House, Passaic County Court House Annex, Goffle Brook Park, and Garret Mountain Reservation. SANDFORD bought New Barbadoes Patent between Passaic and Hackensack Rivers for 7 miles up from Newark Bay. 1669 Captain John BERRY buys Berry Patent for 6 miles further up Passaic River to present Passaic County Line 1678 July 15th - First land in Passaic County bought of the King’s Proprietors. A case study will be used to provide a detailed example. Our guest speaker will be Amy Larner Giroux, PHD, CG, CGL. Ms. Larner Giroux is a researcher, lecturer and writer with geographic specializations including New York City, the Lower Hudson Valley of New York and Pensacola, Florida. She is an award- winning author with articles published in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society Record, and The Genealogist (American Society of Genealogists). Her research interests include burial iconography and ethnic studies. REPORT FROM THE AIGS BOARD NOMINATING COMMITTEE As prescribed by the AIGS by-laws, the AIGS Nominating Committee met to propose a slate of officers and board members for 2015 AIGS Board. Nominees from the current board who expressed an interest in serving for another year were retained. There were three open slots for which the committee personally contacted nominees to determine if they would like their name placed in consideration. They agreed to serve if elected.
