For the continuation of the District A-5 Project Emergency Breastfeeding Tent, UAP San Juan-Mandaluyong Chapter President Arch. Richard Pamplena assisted the Immediate Past District Director Arch. Maria Carmen Yatco during the inspection of the fabrication of the said tent last August 13, 2019 at the Fabrimetrics Phils., Inc. 1 Candido St., San Agustin Village, Talipapa, Quezon City.

The said tent design and plans is to be presented at the upcoming 2nd Regional Breastfeeding Conference to be held in Cyberjaya University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This project is in fulfillment to the MOU between UAP Regional District A-5 and Arugaan Philippines, a breastfeeding creche in the Philippines.

UAP San Juan-Mandaluyong Chapter (SJMC) and UAP San Juan-Pinaglabanan Chapter (SJPC) held the realization of the agreement of a Joint General Membership Meeting last August 20, 2019 at the Max’s Restaurant, Mandala Park, Shaw Blvd., Mandaluyong City. It was a brainchild of the Chapter Presidents Arch. Richard R. Pamplena (SJMC) and Arch. Roberto A. Santos to band together for a Joint Second General Membership Meeting. This event had an overwhelming attendance of 90 participants.

The program started with the standard protocol; the invocation led by UAPSJMC Vice President for Operations Arch. Reynaldo Bolleser, the singing of the National Anthem and UAP March and recital of Architect’s Credo. SJMC Pres. Arch. Richard Pamplena was then asked for the Opening Remarks and together with SJPC Pres. Arch. Roberto Santos they bang the gavel respectively to call the meeting to order. Then the sponsor Rain or Shine Elastomeric Waterproofing Paint Company introduced their product lines to the attendees during the dinner portion. This time also the birthday celebrants were greeted by the crowd.

This was the first time that the former members of SJMC who formed the SJPC met together again in unity and camaraderie with their mother chapter. Notably SJMC Past Pres. Arch. Rosario Roxas (Immediate Past Vice President for Area-A now NCA 2019 Chair) who then was the SJPC Charter President.

The UAP San Juan-Pinaglabanan Chapter (SJPC) initiated an effort for the Joint Courtesy Call with the UAP San Juan-Mandaluyong Chapter (SJMC) and UAP Greenhills Chapter (GHC) to the Office of the Vice Mayor of San Juan City Hon. Warren P. Villa. These three chapters are coexisting and are jointly sharing the geographical jurisdiction of San Juan City. The three chapters are being headed by SJPC Pres. Arch. Roberto A. Santos, SJMC Pres. Arch. Richard R. Pamplena and GHC Pres. Arch. Minerva Villarosa.

The said courtesy call was backed by the UAP Regional District A-5 headed by Director Arch. Reginald T. Yaneza, by the UAP Valley Chapter-Pres. Arch. Rhaine Biglang-awa, UAP Rizal East Chapter-Pres. Arch. Conrad Casinsinan, UAP NCA 2019 headed by Arch. Rosario Roxas of SJPC, CPD Committee headed by Arch. Ma. Carmen Yatco of SJMC, Committee on Illegal Practices Arch. Rowell, the UAP Commission on Governmental and External Affairs, the UAP Vanguard and UAP Official Representative Arch. Ray C. Guarnes of SJMC. The team discussed their intentions to the local government officials in order to pursue the physical and economic development of the city, to render community development and pro bono services in order to help meet the development requirements of their city and extend service to the less fortunate members of our society. Another concern tackled during the dialogue is the implementation and enforcement of the provisions of RA 9266, otherwise known as the Architecture Act of 2004, and its implementing rules and regulations.

The UAP-SJMC was represented by architects Richard R. Pamplena, Maria Carmen Yatco, Ray C. Guarnes and Chapter Director Rosend Ambrosio.

The group strolled and along the area and was amazed by its modern architectural Day 1 of 5 (Kuala Lumpur City Tour) magnificence. UAP Regional District A-5 flies to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, to attend and co-present at the 2nd Regional Breastfeeding Conference to be held at Cyberjaya University-Selangor, on the occasion of the World Breastfeeding Month, to present its local CSR project in the Philippines, and promote the value of the Filipino Architect in society, before the international community. The delegates are: Regional District A5 (RDA5) Director Arch. Reginald Teodoro Yaneza, RDA5 IPDD Arch. Maria Carmen S. Yatco, Chapter Pres. Arch. Michael Alexis Rayo, Rizal-Kalayaan 100 Chapter Pres. The group explored the Bukit Bintang district, notably the Pavillion Mall, then proceeded to KL Central via monorail train.

. At the Sri Kandaswamy Temple which is a vibrant Hindu temple featuring an ornate, multilevel entrance, stone columns & landscaped grounds. This can be found at Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Malaysia, along Klang River.

Around the city, the tactile flooring / tiles which is the guide for the blinds can be found along sidewalks (above two left photos).

The group then visited the famous Petronas Towers KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Central) in Wiliyah Persekutuan, KL. Once the world’s tallest, these iconic 88-story towers bear a modern Islamic design & a visitor skybridge.

And at the back of Petronas Towers are the Aquaria and the spectacular landscapes and playground (KLCC Park).

Batu Caves - Limestone caves at the top of steep steps housing Hindu temples & shrines, plus a huge deity statue that can be found at Gombak, Batu Caves, Selangor, Malaysia 2. Perdana Botanical Gardens - featuring tropical plants & rare fruit trees, plus a fish pond, waterfall & café that can be found at Jalan Kebun Bunga, Tasik Perdana, Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 3. Planetarium Negara - Designed to resemble a mosque, this planetarium offers a space theater, exhibits & an observatory that can be found at 53, Jalan Perdana, Tasik Perdana, Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 4. National Mosque of Malaysia - Hosting up to 15,000 worshippers, Malaysia's national mosque has gardens, a library & a prayer hall that can be found at Jalan Perdana, Tasik Perdana, Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 5. National Museum of Malaysia (Museum Negara) - Interactive museum of Malaysian culture & history from prehistoric times to the present day that can be found at Jabatan Muzium Malaysia, Jalan Damansara, Tasik Perdana, Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 6. Mungo Jerry Restaurant - 292, Jalan Raja Laut, Chow Kit, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. District Director of RDB3 Arch. Justo Santos threated the group with the sumptuous Malaysian dinner. 7. Federal Hotel Malaysia – The historical hotel in Bukit Bintang which is instrumental during the proclamation of Federation of Malaysia independence.

DAY 03 – THE CONFERENCE ITSELF UAP Regional District A-5 attends and co-presents at the 2nd Regional Breastfeeding Conference, in partnership with Arugaan-Philippines, at Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences, in Selangor Malaysia. Present were delegates from different countries like Canada, Australia, Nigeria, US, China, Bhutan, UK, Indonesia, Saudi, Thailand, Malaysia, & Philippines. With us were Arugaan Executive Director Ms. Maria Ines Avellana Fernandez, and Cyberjaya College of Sciences Faculty of Medicine Dean Maj. Gen. Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Zin Bidin.

UAP Regional District A-5 pays a courtesy visit to UAP's Malaysian counterpart, --- PAM or Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia, at their head office in Jalan Tandok, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. We were warmly received and toured around by Ms. Suryati, administrative officer of PAM Secretariat, after being coordinated with her by Arch.Becca Rellosa of UAP Internal Affairs, thru the initiative of UAP Regional District B3 DD Ar. Justo Santos of UAP Kuala Lumpur Chapter. We were joined later on in the afternoon at PAM Center, by Founding & Charter President of UAP Kuala Lumpur Chapter Ar. Emmanuel Canlas, link person of UAP to PAM.

With the help of the UAP Kuala Lumpur Chapter Charter President Arch. Emmanuel Canlas, he guided the RDA5 group toured at the Kuala Lumpur government center where magnificent hundred years old architectural edifice, heritage buildings can be found. Arch. Canlas was once part of the KL government restoration efforts for these buildings.
