DIRECTIONS Step 1: Read a combination of the following 2 texts

➢ Select one of the following required reads: A Separate Peace; The Glass Castle; Death of a Salesman ~~~AND~~~ ➢ Select one from the following AP Text list: A Tale of Two Cities; Catch - 22; Ethan Frome; Great Expectations; Hamlet; Henry IV, Parts I & II; King Lear; Macbeth; Moby Dick; Othello; The Aeneid; The Illiad; The Jungle; The Scarlet ; Wide Sargasso Sea

Step 2: Create a series of to chronicle the character journeys

PURPOSE: To create a series of “Postcards” (6-10) that reflects the adventures of the characters from your summer reading selections.

Each post card must contain the following elements:

➢ Use a 5” x 8” or something similar On Front of Postcard ➢ On the front of the card create an attractive drawing that reflects the story. You may use any art materials such as markers, fabric, colored pencils, magazine cut-outs or computer clip-art pictures. DO NOT simply print a copy of the book cover that is available on the Internet. Be creative!

➢ The front of the card must also note a specific highlight on the characters journey and have a slogan, motto, etc to represent that point of the journey. 10th Grade Pre-AP Postcard Book Report On Back of Postcard ➢ On the back of the card write a message from one character to another character, from you to a character, from a character to you, or from a character in one book to a character in the other (Dear …,” ) that includes the following:

1. Your character describes the main events, setting, or important plot elements of the book.

2. The description includes at least five details about the plot (who, what, when, where, why, how).

3. Sign the message from the character or yourself (Sincerely, Love, Your friend, Regards, etc.)

➢ Write a postscript (P.S.) that gives your opinion of the scene. Explain WHY you liked/disliked the part. Be specific.

➢ Draw a stamp that represents a symbol of the novel. (Suggestion: You may go to Google Images to help create a stamp) Ex: Draw a classring if someone’s class ring was representative of their love for learning

➢ Address the postcard to whom the message is being written. (Remember: you may have to be creative and “make-up” parts of the address; use some of the details of what you’ve read to help you with this)
