However, as you can imagine, someone’s golf game might be sagging a bit. That said, newborn Jaxon may take in his first Club Championship on Sunday if all goes as planned with sis - ter, Ella at his side. “My game is a little rough right now. I have low ex - pectations going into the weekend. I haven’t played a lot of golf, but I’ll give it a whirl,” says Elgner, who is in the process of opening a third Modern Golf facility with his partners - this one in Dubai at the Els Club in October. “I Andrea Makauskas Jaxon Elgner think the key is to try and play consistent, steady golf on the Sunday and don’t think about winning the champi - onship. This amazing gathering brought together professionals and their opinions on not only the wines from the Piemonte region itself, but com- parative tastings of wines throughout Italy and France. The Canadian contingent consisted of six and we made our impression on the group with our knowledge, passion and of course our ‘Canadian’ hospitality! All panels were focused on a variety of topics, whether it be a spe- cific grape variety, such as Verdicchio from the Marches, Nebbiolo from Barolo, traditional vs. modern interpretations of Barbera, food and wine pairing exploration and small open discussions with wine producers looking to enter into the Canadian market to broaden their scope of po- tential customers and brand recognition. Our first day began with a day-long tour of the Barbaresco region, focusing on the three communes that make up the appellation.
