Kim Campbell, Washington Audit & Assurance, completed an historical fiction trilogy about the Triple Crown races. The trilogy follows fictional horse, Genuine Storm, and team through the trials and tribulations of working together to achieve Thoroughbred racing’s highest , the Triple Crown. The three books are: The Calm Before the Storm: The Kentucky Derby (published 2015), The Eye of the Storm: The Preakness Stakes (published 2017) and The Height of the Storm: The Belmont Stakes (coming out next month).

Philip Carduck, New York Risk & Financial Advisory, retired from SIPC eight years ago and is enjoying life, traveling and outdoor activities. He recently returned from a tour of Colorado and New Mexico, and is living outside Charlottesville, VA.

Marley Cohen, New York Audit & Assurance, and her husband David, welcomed their son, Zachary Ryan, on July 11, 2019. Zach weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz and was 20.75 inches long.

LeighAnn Costley, Atlanta Tax, is honored to be recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of Atlanta’s 2019 “Women Who Mean Business”. The award honors women who have made significant strides in their careers, are making a difference in their communities, blazing a trail for others and leaving an indelible mark on the Atlanta business community. Clarence Crawford, Rosslyn Consulting, fulfilled his appointment in June 2019 as a Principal Director and 1st Vice Chair of the Washington Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Board. He was appointed to the Maryland State Board of Education in March 2019, which has general control and supervision over public schools and the educational interests of Maryland. He was also awarded the African American Federal Executive Association’s Ebenezer Bassett Senior Executive Service Distinguished Service Award for distinguished service to the nation. Kevin Monroe, Nashville Audit & Assurance, was appointed as first partner-in-residence for Lipscomb University’s College of Business accounting program. As partner-in-residence in the College of Business, Kevin will co-teach auditing courses, assist in curriculum development, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and participate in international trips for accounting students. Kathryn Nowak, New York Consulting, Co-founded and launched the Emerging Leaders Network (ELN) of the New York Women's Foundation (the Foundation) this year. This fall, she will be featured in the Foundation's Activist Philanthropist publication for her efforts. Lynn Odland, Wilton Audit & Assurance, returned from Florida after a year at the IMG Sports Academy where they provided housing for their 14-year-old grandson. He watched the 1,000 young athletes from 50 countries pursuing dreams in their selected sport. Their grandson won the IMG Tour Golf Tournament. He also celebrated his 80th birthday with the kids.

Michael Rosenblatt, New York Audit & Assurance, recently became President of The Quest Family Office Search which specializes in advising Family Offices on succession planning, exit strategies, governance, risk management and identifying key executives including chief financial officers, chief investment officers, general counsels, chief executive officers and chief technology officers. He remains president of The Quest Organization which is celebrating its successful 34th year in business.

Simmone Seymour, New York Consulting, started at Wharton’s MBA program where she has connected with many other Deloitte alumni. Applying skills, she learned at Deloitte, she developed a marketing and product management strategy for a retail tech startup in NYC. On campus, she is consulting for a healthcare startup to develop a GTM strategy and for Shift Capital, a social impact real estate firm, to establish best practices for implementing urban economic development solutions that yield positive returns for investors. Lisa Furman, Minneapolis Services, was recruited to become Vice President of Marketing and Communications for The Minneapolis Foundation, a $900M community foundation that brings together people, ideas, and resources to promote racial, social, and economic equity in Minneapolis. In her new role, Lisa leads all external and internal marketing and communications, including branding, advertising, and public relations. Lisa was excited to step into this role at a pivotal moment for the organization as they work through the development of a 10-year strategic plan. Andrew Harris, Austin Consulting, recently joined Khoros, a Vista Equity Partners Company, as Chief of Staff to the CEO. Timothy Heis, Dallas Consulting, joined Goodwill Industries of Dallas in September 2019 as the new CEO. He served Neiman Marcus Group as the Vice President of Strategy since 2016.

Mark Hulka, Columbus Tax, is married to Suzanne Simmons Hulka who is also a former Deloitte professional. They will celebrate their 29th wedding anniversary on November 10, 2019. Both are contemplating retirement in the next few years. They have one son, Alexander, who graduated in three years with an honors degree in Economics from the University of Michigan this past spring. He will earn his master’s degree from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan this fall.

Adam Stanley, Chicago Consulting, was appointed by the Board of Directors of GATX Corporation (the Company) in September 2019 to serve as an independent director on the Board of Directors of the Company. He will also serve as a member of the Audit Committee.

Andrew Steinel, Cleveland Audit & Assurance, and his wife Lindsay, welcomed their second daughter, Alaina, in April 2019. Their first daughter, Madelyn, turned two last month. The company he started from his Hudson, OH basement, XCaliber Ammunition LLC, has recently expanded and is now Steinel Ammunition Co. in Twinsburg, OH.

Tina Taylor, Dayton Services, president of HR Elements, LLC recently announced the expansion of HR Elements to Lexington and Indianapolis. HR Elements provides outsourced HR support to businesses from 20 to 100 employees. HR Elements currently partners with clients in Dayton, Cincinnati, Kentucky and Tennessee and is excited to put Lexington and Indianapolis on their map. She started HR Elements, LLC in 2006.

Gerald Van Eeckhout, Minneapolis Audit & Assurance, served as CFO of the International Division of the Pillsbury Co and Medtronic, both in Minneapolis. He moved to Colorado as CEO of two teleconferencing start-ups. He received Deloitte’s Fast 500 award for three years and EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year. Van is retired and now living in Frisco, CO and Chacala, Nayarit, Mexico, where he created the Chacala Cultural Foundation offering art, literature, educational and music events and programs.

Dan Wilson, Denver Audit & Assurance, was appointed Treasurer, Chief Investment Officer & Associate VP for Budget and Finance in August 2015 by the Board of Regents of the University of Colorado. Andrea Brayson, Portland Services, is now a Director of Workplace Services for First Tech Federal Credit Union. She manages a team of 10 workplace professionals and oversees a portfolio that includes three corporate offices and 42 retail branch locations.

Tom Captain, Seattle Services, has been certified as a licensed US Coast Guard 100 ton Master (Captain), and now operates a yacht charter company.

Frank Castellon, San Francisco Tax, earned his MST degree from Golden Gate University in 2018. He works at Castellon Professional Services which recently expanded their office locations to include San Francisco, San Jose, and Santa Cruz.

Matthew Hom, Costa Mesa Consulting, retired from the Chief Technologist role after 27 years of service with Northrop Grumman in August 2019. He is currently preparing to go into ministry in some capacity. He has been a lay leader in his previous church for the past seven years.

Susanna Hui, Seattle Audit & Assurance, moved to Hong Kong in 2007 because of her husband’s job relocation. She is currently serving at a non-profit organization called Hong Kong Church Network for the Poor to empower their partners to achieve triple bottom. It is critical that their partner organization that has a passion to do social good can measure its impact, is financially sustainable, and are bringing hope to the people in the city. She feels blessed to see transformation in people’s life, in the community, and in the city.

Kevin Kimball, Salt Lake City Audit & Assurance, began his service as the Accounting Department, Chair at Brigham Young University – Idaho (BYU-I) in August 2019. BYU-I’s accounting program is one of the largest in the West with approximately 900 accounting majors from all over the US. He started teaching at BYU-Hawaii (BYU-H) in 1997 after leaving Deloitte. They are launching the product this year, the ChiKeey Smart Mood Ring. It is a smart wearable that can determine your mood with an accuracy of over 90%. The more you wear it, the smarter it becomes– it learns what makes you happy, angry, sad, frustrated and more. The mission is to provide real solutions that help people to choose happier experiences that satisfy their souls.

Anne Marie Mills, Seattle Consulting, started a new role at Algorithmia as the Director of HR/People for the 55- employee startup. Algorithmia recently raised their Series B funding.

James O'Neill, San Francisco Consulting, after an intensive consulting career, finally found time for some volunteer and civic activities. For three years, he served as a board member of Sterne School, a middle and high school for students with learning disabilities. He also served as a mentor for Juniors and Seniors at Mountain View High School. One of his rewarding experiences was one year with the San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury, where his consulting skills came in handy in chairing one of their six committees and writing two of their nine reports. He is currently an alternate Commissioner of the San Mateo County Local Agency Formation Commission and continues to do some volunteer work with Stanford University and the Graduate School of Business. He and his wife retired in Redwood Shores in 2008 after 25 years in Menlo Park. One of their daughters is a Partner with Farallon Capital in San Francisco, and the other is a Vice President with CBS Interactive in Los Angeles. Jim spends his free time exercising (swimming) and reading extensively about aviation, foreign policy, and physics.

Michael Piraino, Costa Mesa Audit & Assurance, retired in 2014 as EVP & CFO of Accelrys in San Diego. He is now managing partner of CEO Resources USA, M&A Advisory and is playing lots of golf.

Allan Preusch, Los Angeles Audit & Assurance, retired to Balboa Island, CA.

Daniel Randazzo, San Francisco Consulting, relocated to Charleston, SC with his wife, Caitlin, and their golden doodle dog, George. He left Deloitte in May 2019 to focus on his entrepreneurial passion and invest in multifamily real estate assets. He co-founded PassiveInvesting.com which brings multifamily investment opportunities to individuals, so people can have investment options versus the traditional Wall Street only investment strategy. His company controls over $171 million in assets across the Southeast US.

Scott Seegmiller, Las Vegas Audit & Assurance, is CFO at WestCorp Management Group. His son started working at Deloitte & Touche LLP in Audit in September.

Chad Sinclair, Los Angeles Risk & Financial Advisory, is excited to join Alchemy as their CFO while he remains as an Advisor to EP Wealth Advisors. They are presently rebranding Alchemy and two other Fintech companies under Constellation Fintech Holdings and creating a Lending as a Service Business. Presently the group of companies is very profitable and is on track to generate $20 million in revenue in FY19. His goal with this company is to double revenue and headcount in the next 12-18 months.

Lynn Snow, Salt Lake City Services, is retired after having been a CPA and then a Real Estate Developer and Real Estate Broker. He lives in Roosevelt, UT and has a home in St. George. News about you | November 2019

Penny Sweeting, Portland Tax, started working for fellow Deloitte alumni at a new firm, Geffen Mesher in Portland, OR as a tax manager. They are tasked with growing a developing state and local tax practice for this local Oregon firm. They recently started a new SALT Networking Group for fellow state and local tax practitioners and those in industry to meet up periodically to discuss issues and developments in the ever-changing state tax arena.
