The Hornets are coming off two competitive losses to Dec. 30 MANHATTAN L, 59-65 MEAC North preseason favorite Norfolk State last weekend. The Spartans won the first game 87-76 and needed overtime to take the second contest 83-79. In the second meeting, Pinky Wiley (sr.) had career- Jan. 4 at Coppin State* L, 78-86 highs of 29 points, including his 1000th at DSU, and seven three-point field goals for the Hornets. Myles Jan. 5 at Coppin State * L, 77-81 Carter (sr.) added 17 points in the game for Delaware State. Carter is tops on the team and fifth in the MEAC Jan. 9 at Howard* PPD in scoring at 14.3 points per game. He has reached double-figures in scoring in the last five games and in Jan. 10 at Howard* PPD seven of his eight appearances this season. Carter has also proven to be a strong rebounder from the back Jan. 16 NORFOLK STATE* L, 76-87 court, leading the Hornets with a 4.8 per game average this season. Wiley is second on the Hornets and eighth in the Jan. 24 at Morgan State 2:00 MEAC in scoring at 13.7 points per game. Wiley has also hit at least one three-point field goal in 20 straight games dating back to the 2019-20 Jan. 31 at Norfolk State* 4:30 season. Newcomer Zach Kent (so.), a native of Magnolia, Del., and University of Tennessee transfer, is third Feb. 13 HOWARD* 1:00 on the Hornets in scoring at 10.1 ppg and leads the MEAC in blocks at 1.7 per game (12 total). Kent has four Feb. 14 HOWARD* 1:00 blocks in two of his seven games this season. Series History (MSU leads 59-43) This is the first of four scheduled meetings between the Hornets and Bears this season. Morgan State has won the last three meetings to open up a 59-43 series lead. The Bears swept two games from the Hornets during the 2019-20 season, winning 81-68 at Delaware State and 90-80 in Baltimore, Md. In last season’s game at Morgan State, Wiley led the Hornets with 26 points on seven-for-13 shooting from the field, including 5-of-11 on three-point shots. He also knocked down seven-of-eight free throw attempts. DSU is looking to snap a two-game skid at Hill Field House since a 56-47 victory at Morgan State on Feb. 11, 2017.
