Director/Contact:

As 2015 President I wish to reach out and personally thank Butte County for its support in the form of annual dues payment, so that each of your Planning Commissioners may continue in the role of members in good standing with the California County Planning Commissioners' Association!

In the furtherance of our mission, "Knowledge through Education," we will be coming together for our 85th Annual Conference and General Membership Meeting on October 23‐24, 2015. This conference will be held at June Lake, in the Eastern Sierra, just east of Yosemite National Park and north of Mammoth Lakes. More information may be obtained at http://planningcommission.org , and event registration is now open at http://ccpca2015.eventzilla.net .

We hope that some of your Commissioners and/or Staff will be interested in attending this informative and enriching experience. To that end we are asking that you please assist us by helping to extend our invitation to each of them. I have attached a PDF flyer which may be used for that purpose.

It has been customary for Counties to cover the expenses for their Commissioners to attend our conferences through budgeted training funds. We know that in the recent economic climate these funds have been lacking in many counties' budgets. The CCPCA board will therefore consider granting some partial funding through scholarships to certain Commissioners who have a desire to attend the conference and also wish to become active in our organization. If this scenario applies to any of your Commissioners please direct them to apply by contacting me or any one of the other CCPCA Board Members. Our email addresses are available on the website.

We're looking forward to a wonderful weekend in late October, and hope to see you there?

Best Regards, Dan Roberts Mono County Planning Commissioner 2015 CCPCA President

1 85th Annual General Conference “Planning for People and Environment on California's Eastside”

Friday and Saturday, October 23-24, 2015 June Lake, California

The majestic mountain range creates a formidable divide between east and west. This year we invite you to join us on the Other Side: California's Eastside.

Commissioners, Don't miss out on this educational and networking opportunity of the decade!

Friday morning we'll be convening the 85th annual general conference of the CCPCA in the beautiful high-sierra community of June Lake, Mono County, just a few miles to the east of Yosemite National Park on the rim of the Basin. In this retreat setting, a variety of entertaining and informative speakers will present some of the latest practices, problems and solutions, and innovations for modern planning. An early evening chairlift ride will then take us up the mountainside for a reception with a great view, at the June Mountain Ski Chalet.

On Saturday, we'll embark on a field trip to experience an award-winning Main Street upgrade project in the historic county seat of Bridgeport, followed by an interpretive presentation at Mono Lake, a brief bus tour of the world-famous ski resort town of Mammoth Lakes, and finally we will visit the Sierra Nevada Aquatic Research Laboratory on Convict Creek, operated as an extension of the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Saturday evening, the event will conclude with a gala banquet featuring our keynote speaker George Runner, former State Senator and current Vice-Chair of the Board of Equalization.

The conference is also open to City Planning Commissioners, Planning Staff, and other persons involved in the planning process. You are encouraged to bring your spouse or guest with you as well.
