We’re as fully included members of their community! 6 THE ARC, ONEIDA-LEWIS CHAPTER Hands-on career day The Arc’s School-to-Work program’s fourth annual Hands on Career day moved to a new location at the Oneida County Department of Public Works. Over 400 students attended the event to visit 55 vendors offering a wide- ranging selection of career opportunities for the students to consider for their future. Oneida County Executive, Anthony Picente toured the grounds and was impressed with what he saw. “Often, they hear about opportunities in other places, and that’s all well and good, but we want our young people to stay here,” said Picente. “I get troubled with the word disabilities sometimes because people have 7 great abilities and they show us what can be done.” 2018 | ANNUAL REPORT Family Support Network The Arc, Oneida-Lewis is empowering families in Oneida and Lewis Counties who have a loved one with a developmental disability to become personally involved in public policy and to be aware of the services available to them. This group of like-minded people forms a unified voice to advocate and enhance the lives of the people we support.
