(2) Notes that the Government will not guarantee that some of its infrastructure contracts will go to New South Wales manufacturers. (3) Calls on the Government to commit to maintaining regional jobs and ensure the survival of the State's manufacturing industry by guaranteeing that a proportion of its contracts go to New South Wales businesses. (2) Notes that this equates to only 45 per cent of John Hunter Hospital emergency department patients being seen within four hours, when the national standard is 71 per cent. (3) Calls on the Minister for Health to investigate why the Hunter continues to lag so far behind the national benchmark, and implement the necessary changes, including additional staff, to ensure the best and most timely care for patients at this major facility. (Notice given 14 November 2013—lapses 15 May 2014) 2823 JOHN HUNTER HOSPITAL NURSING STAFF LEVELS MS SONIA HORNERY to move— That this House: (1) Notes that the NSW Nurses and Midwives Association believes data used by Hunter New England Health to roster John Hunter Hospital operating theatre nurses is wrong, resulting in lower staffing level than required. (2) Acknowledges the Association's concerns that as a consequence, operating theatre nurses at John Hunter Hospital have constant unreasonable workloads. (3) Notes that Hunter New England Health has refused the Association's request for an external review of staffing levels. (4) Calls on the Minister for Health to initiate an independent review of staffing levels at John Hunter Hospital to address the frequently raised concerns about working conditions at this crucial treatment facility. (2) Notes that young people are losing a valuable training opportunity, and career paths for young people who have just completed an apprenticeship are narrowing. (3) Calls on the Minister for Industrial Relations to commit to establishing solid career paths for young people by encouraging greater investment to expand and support the State's manufacturing industries. (2) Condemns the previous Government for constructing a police station with inadequate parking for stationed officers and staff, who have to park in other public car parks.
