2019 WSCA GIRLS’ ALL-STATE NOMINATION FORM

Committee Chairperson: Susie Foster, Carroll University, [email protected] WSCA President: Lucas Kollross, DC Everest, [email protected] All nominations are due by email to Susie and Lucas before June 10th, 2019

WSCA All-State Selection Procedure: The WSCA All-State Committee Chairperson will form a committee of 5-10 coaches from every region of the state. This committee will meet at the state tournament to select the players for All-State.

Selection Day 1) The Committee will choose approximately 50-70 players, depending on the depth of the talent pool, for WSCA All-State. 2) The committee will select from the All-State pool the top eleven players to make up WSCA 1st Team All- State—these players will be eligible for NSCAA regional/national awards. 3) The committee will choose one player from the 1st Team to be WSCA Player of the Year. 4) The committee will select eleven players for WSCA 2nd Team All-State from the remaining pool of 39-59 players—these are players in the pool who are not on the 1st Team. 5) The 28-48 players in the All-State pool who are not on 1st or 2nd team All-State will receive Honorable Mention WSCA All-State certificates. 6) WSCA 1st and 2nd Team selections will receive medals. 7) Coaches must be WSCA members by June 1st to nominate players at conference meeting.

Conference All-State Nomination Procedure After the decisions for first-team, second-team, and honorable mention have been made, all conference coaches vote for the conference player of the year. The conference player of the year will be chosen by a majority vote. We recommend that this vote is public, not by secret ballot. From there, coaches will vote for the #2 player in the conference in the same manner that they voted for the player of the year. This will continue all the way down until #15 on the ranking form. Your ranking should include goalkeepers. Keep in mind, the All-State Committee will not over-rule your ranking decisions—we trust your judgment. Because the All-State Committee will follow your conference player rankings, do not place a player who is All- State caliber lower than a player who is not. The All-State Committee may not select a player if you rank the player lower than a player from your conference who does not make the All-State pool. For example, if your ranking looks like this: 1) 2) 3) 4) (a good but not great player who does not get selected by the All-State Committee for the All-State pool of players) 5) 6) In this situation, the All-State Committee may not choose Pulisic or Cameron for All-State honor. No matter how good Pulisic and Cameron are, the All-State Committee may not choose them because they were ranked below #4, who did not get selected. Please avoid this kind of mistake. We want as many deserving players as possible from your conference to get the recognition that they deserve. Keep in mind, the All-State Committee is not required to follow the conference rankings when making decisions about 1st, 2nd, and Honorable Mention selections within the pool.
