Seemingly all of a sudden, bands have been having success punctuating their tunes with “hos” and “heys.” These “heys” are not lyrical content, as in Hey Jude. Nor are these chants ritually repeated, almost affect- less incantations of a song’s chorus, like in most recent Katy Perry hits. Rather, they are a form of percussion, a novel — compared to what else is out there — way of thickening a song’s rhythms and of calling back to a time before iTunes, Auto-Tune, recording technology itself. On its own terms, and as a symbol of popular music’s new willingness to reach back into our rural roots, this trend is as welcome as a third encore at an Avett Brothers show. The most obvious example is, yes, Ho Hey, the infectious, upbeat song by the Lumineers climbed as high as No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100, No. 1 on its rock chart and No. 2 on its pop chart. Ho Hey is so perky and undeniable, it would be the song of the summer, if it weren’t having its biggest success now. But Ho Hey is much more folk than rock. And rather than having the backing of what remains of the music industry, the Lu- mineers are an indie trio out of Denver.

    VENERDì 13 SETTEMBRE 2019 Il nuovo album dei The Lumineers, "III", è una narrazione cinematografica raccontata in tre capitoli, con le canzoni di ogni capitolo incentrate su il personaggio principale delle tre generazioni della famiglia Sparks. Ogni III, il terzo album dei The capitolo si trova all'interno dell'intero album, insieme a tre brani Lumineers aggiuntivi. Le storie raccontate trattano argomenti molto vicini al cantante solista Wesley Schultz. Il capitolo I "Gloria Sparks", è stato ispirato da un membro della famiglia di Schultz. "Gloria è una tossicodipendente e neppure l'amore avrebbe potuto salvarla. Ora è senza casa da oltre un CRISTIAN PEDRAZZINI anno. Amare un tossicodipendente è come stare in piedi tra le onde che si infrangono, cercando di piegare la volontà del mare".     The Lumineers Hace veinte años, Wesley Schultz vio el futuro. Quería ser artista. Mientras crecía en el suburbio de Ramsey, New Jersey, Wesley pasaba sus días dibujando junto a su mejor amigo, Josh Fraites. Hoy en día, como líder de la banda de The Lumineers, Wesley reemplazó su lápiz por una guitarra, sus dibujos por canciones y toca codo con codo Jeremiah, el hermano más joven de Joshua. Pero la historia de The Lumineers no sucedió tan fácilmente. Se inicia en el año 2002, el hermano de la misma edad de Jeremiah, Josh, murió de una sobredosis de drogas a los 19. En medio de la pérdida y el dolor, Wes y Jeremías encontraron consuelo en la música, escribiendo canciones y tocando en conciertos alrededor de Nueva York. Tras dar batalla en la durísima escena musical de la ciudad y por el increíblemente costoso nivel de vida, los dos decidieron ampliar sus horizontes.
