The appropriate reports are attached: Administrative 2017-2018 United Way Campaign Kick-Off Event (Pictured left to right) Scott Zauber, Adam Robinson, Laura Sadler-Hunter (DRPA), Thaddeus Abbott III (DRPA), Jennifer Hutchinson and John Emge On Wednesday, September 13, 2017, Thaddeus Abbott III, Administrative Coordinator, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer and Laura Sadler-Hunter, Customer Service Coordinator in the Administration Division, attended the United Way campaign season kickoff at Caffé Aldo Lamberti in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. They met many people and networked with other campaign leaders on best practices for raising more in donations for year 2017. Some of the participating speakers were the Holman Family, who have participated in the United Way campaign’s for over 70 years. Another speaker was Camden’s Urban Promise High School student, Daisha. She shared her appreciation and experiences of the Campaign and how it has impacted/changed her life. She also recited two (2) poems that she wrote. The information provided at this kickoff event will help DRPA/PATCO prepare for the United Way 2017-2018 campaign. We know our participating employees’ United Way donations assist many individuals and families in need in our region through the funded organizations. Laura Sadler-Hunter will again coordinate the campaign for the Authority with the help of facility coordinators and we are appreciative of their help. DRPA - Finalist in Women’s Business Enterprise Council “Corporation of the Year Award” for Diversity Efforts On Friday, September 15, 2017 the DRPA and PATCO were represented at an awards luncheon at the Philadelphia Union League by CAO Toni P. Brown, Ann DuVall, Project Analyst, Erin Watterson, EEO Specialist, Thaddeus Abbott III, Administrative Coordinator and Amy Ash, Manager, Contracts Administration. The luncheon was hosted by the Women’s Business Enterprise Council (WBEC) and honored women business enterprises (WBEs) and the firms that make it a priority to do business with them. Among the awards given was the WBE Corporate Done Deals Award, which is awarded to companies that report the highest spend and the most transactions with WBEC – certified WBEs in fiscal year 2016. DRPA was considered for this award with spending during the award period of 2016 of $1,318,210.96. While DRPA did not have the highest spend or the most ‘Done Deals’ with WBEC certified WBE companies, we are proud of our ongoing efforts in support of equal opportunity in contracting and purchasing. Also awarded was the WBEC Partner of the Year Award, which is a prestigious honor for a company that not only reports high spend with WBE members, but is a positive example of mentorship, outreach efforts and improvement. I am pleased to report that although the Authority did not win this year, we were named as a top 3 finalist for the WBEC Partner of the Year Award. The Board and staff’s commitment to the Shared Values of “Diversity & Inclusion” and “Continuous Improvement” make it possible for the Authority to be back in the running and considered among equals with influential and impactful firms in the community. Annual DRPA and PATCO Health Fairs – October 2017 The Benefits Administration Department hosted four (4) Health Fairs with daytime and evening hours convenient for our DRPA and PATCO colleagues. With a new logo developed for the fair (shown below), and a new holistic focus on physical, mental and financial wellness and safety in the workplace, the “We Care Health Fairs” occurred in the evening of October 10 at the Ben Franklin Bridge Administration Building, during the day at One Port Center on October 13, and in the daytime and nighttime at PATCO on October 17, 2017. In the weeks preceding the fairs, teaser emails and emails with fair details went out to the staff along with a message that our goal is to “beat” the attendance number from last year’s health fairs of 278. Pictured left to right above: Ann DuVall, Project Manager, Erin Watterson, EEO Specialist, CAO Toni P. Brown, Amy Ash, Manager, Contract Administration & Thaddeus Abbott III, Administrative Coordinator, Office of the CAO. This year, the following health screenings will be available for employees at the daytime fairs for employee wellness: Total cholesterol, HDL and Glucose non-fasting testing, seated chair massage, a healthy cooking demonstration with samples, a nutrition table with a certified nutritionist, blood pressure and body mass index checks, a Dermascan to help understand the risks of sun exposure and a fatal vision Intoxiclock simulation that allows a participant to experience the effects of impairment. We have added the following enhancements to the 2017 DRPA and PATCO Health Fairs: a non-fasting A1C check to identify prediabetes and sugar levels, Pulmonary Function Screening and a hearing test. Employees who work at night are welcome to attend any daytime health fairs to participate in the screenings. AmeriHealth of New Jersey Wellness Funds cover the costs of the screenings for the 2017 DRPA and PATCO Health Fairs. We will report back next month with photos and metrics on the 2017 October DRPA and PATCO Health Fairs.
