Traditional Medicinal Plants Used by Local People at Dang District in State

Abstract The Present paper Deals with the important medicinal plant at Ahwa Dang District Forest area were carried out during January 2016 to December 2017. A total Number 63 Medicinal plant species belong to35 Families Were collected and recorded for their use in different ailment. These plants were mostly used for treatment of abscess, asthma, abortion, cough, could, Chicken-pox, constipation, dysentery, diarrhea, diabetes, eczema, fever, Bone fracture, headache, heart disease, itches, Jaundice, Menstrual diseases, paralysis piles, skin diseases, snake bite, sex problem, toothache, vomiting, worm, wound etc. leaves and the Bark, or whole plants, fruit rhizome, seed root and flower, For each species scientific name, local name, habit, family ailment to treated mode of treatmentand part(s) are provided for medicinal use.

Introduction Ahwa Dang District Located at the Border of North nearbysaputara forest it is one of the beautiful hill station,climet is hot humid in summer and cold in winter in having maximum Rainfall The summerseason start from Early February. The winter season start from October There is no rain fall duringNovember to May some time Occasional rain fall may be possible in between this period. Ahwa is the Headquarter of Dang district other town is Mahai, Maheshkatri, Sober, Server, purna, , Chinchali, Samgahan, Manmodiandsaputara. Ref (Table 2 Map). Languages are Gujarati, and English, and party Marathi; most of the Tribal people use Gujarati and party Marathi and Hindi language. Ambika River and Gira River Dang District has part of a forest that includes , which is sharedbetween the district of Dang and Tapi in Gujarat and Nandurbar District in Maharashtra and Vanasda National park in , which shares a continuous tract of forest with valsad district. The evergreen forest in this region is in the range of the rusty spotted cat like Ratanmahalwild like sanctuary, there have seen extinctions in the population of birds. Also, though the is reportedly extinct in Gujarat, the region where Southern Gujarat meets Maharashtra and nevertheless has tigers. Making this forest a potential habitat of the tiger.

Materials and methods The present survey is, a total of 63 plant species belong 35 Families were recorded and collected from Ahwa Dang District twenty five field trips were made for documentation during the field interview, the information was noted in the documentation data sheet All the information regarding plant species, biological forms, habitat, local names and uses were documented. Medicinal information was obtained through in formal interviews with local tribal people as well as local pharmaceutical Industries and elder people plant specimens were collected with Flower, Fruit, Bark, leaves and processed using standard herbarium techniques. The specimens were identified consulting with the expert by comparing herbarium specimen and available literature. The voucher specimens are stored in Department of Botany Arts commerce and Science College Rajaramnagar, Post Materewadi, Tal Dindori,DistNashik.

Result and Discussion: The important medicinal plant at Ahwa Dang District (Table 1) were carried out A total of 63 medicinal plant species belonging to 35 families were collected and recorded for their use in different ailments. Most of the local people in the study area are poor in literature in one hand, these people are out of the reach of modern medicine and on the other hand, the mark price of the most available medicines are very expensive as a result, these medicinal plants are used by them to cure following the diseases. Especially for abscess, asthma, abortion, cough, cold, small pox constipation, dysentery, diarrhea diabetes, eczema, fever, bone fracture, headache, heart diseases, itches, jaundice, menstrual diseases, paralysis piles, skin diseases, snake bite, toothache, vomiting, worm wound and others. (Table1). The study also suggested that the present information on medicinal use of Plants by tribal people. It may be used for botanical and pharmaceutical research, under graduate student, post graduate student and research scholar in future for the discovery of new sources of drugs, aswell as protect the biodiversity of the genuine drug.
