ADCC Championship Rules & Regulations

The Championship is tournament style i.e; only winner goes through to the next round.

Gee, Kimono & Shoes are optional. The mat area is 9 x 9 meters, no cage or fence. If the fighters go out of this area the referee will restart the fight in the center of the mat, in the same position they were when they left the mat. If the fighters were standing , they will start again facing each other.

1) Legal Techniques : * Any kind of choke (except for using the hand to close the wind pipe). * No use of T-Shirt and no holding the shorts allowed * Any armbar, shoulder lock, or wrist lock * Any Leg Lock or Ankle Lock

2) Illegal Techniques : * "Full Nelson" and "Crucifix" * No striking of any kind * No eye gouging or fish hooking * No grabbing the ears * No hair pulling * No finger or toe holds * No thumbing * No scratching and pinching * No kicking * No biting * No touching groin area * No hands, knees or elbows on face * No slippery substances allowed on body or clothing

3) Securing Points : position = 2 points with = 3 points Passing the = 3 points Knee on stomach = 2 points Clean = 4 points Sweep = 2 Points Clean Take down (Ends passed the guard)= 4 points Take down (Ends Guard or )= 2 points

* Each position must be established for 3 seconds or more in order for points to be awarded. * When changing multiple positions points will be awarded only for the position that has been established for 3 seconds or more. * Reversals are considered Sweeps as well.

Penalties: * When a fighter voluntarily jumps in the guard or goes from standing position to a non-standing position by any means and remains down for 3 seconds or more, he will be punished by a minus point. * When a fighter disengages from contact and starts backing up and avoids to engage again he will be punished by minus point. * A passive fighter will be warned twice and then will be punished by minus point. The referee will warn the passive player by the wards "WARNING PASSIVITY"

How you can win The winner will be decided according to :- * If one competitor gives up or submits by tapping the leg, arm or verbally * If Referee feels one competitor is unable to defend himself or feels his life is in danger, the Referee will declare the winner * If a fighter breaks the rules twice he will be disqualified by the Referee

Time Limits : * Qualifying Rounds = 10 Minutes * Finals = 20 Minutes * 5 Minutes overtime if there is a draw with no advantage

Skill Levels Juvenile (ages 4-17) Skill Levels Beginners: Up to one year of training any grappling art. Intermediate: Up to three years of training any grappling art. Advanced: Over three years training any grappling art.

Adult and 30+ No Gi Skill Levels

Skill levels are determined by time spent training in any comparable grappling art. Any wrestler with extensive experience (3 or more years in high school, or any collegiate experience) must enter at least intermediate no-gi. , , and MMA experience count the same as BJJ.

Adult Divisions (Men and Women) Novice: Up to 9 months (white belts only). Beginner: Up to 2 years (white belts only). Intermediate: 2 – 5 years, or blue belt. Advanced: Over 5 years, or purple belt and above.

30+ Men Beginner: Up to 2 years (white belts only). Intermediate: 2 – 5 years, or blue belt. Advanced: Over 5 years, or purple belt and above.

BJJ (GI)

Athletes registering for any championship must be affiliated with an academy, and that academy is subject to approval. Registration for each championship shall adhere to a timetable widely publicized by the, and all deadlines must be enforced. Athletes known or found to hold a black belt in judo are forbidden from taking part in any championship as a white belt. Athletes who do not meet the requirements put forth in championship guidelines or those in this General Competition Regulations Book may be disqualified at any moment prior to, during or following the competition. 2.10 2.1

Medals will be awarded to athletes achieving first, second, and third place in each division.

There are no preset weight classes for mighty, pee wee, junior and teens. At the end of weigh ins, the children and teens will be sorted by weight. Juveniles will be divided by weight, experience, and age (whenever possible). Using the Madison system means children and teens will no longer cut weight since they won’t know the weight classes in advance.

Please Note

• Weigh-ins will take place on the day before each competition. Each competitor gets only two opportunity to weigh-in, so please make sure you have signed up for the right division, or risk disqualification. • Any athlete who fails to appear when called to compete will forfeit the match • Any competitor running from a fight will be docked one point. If the behavior continues, he or she may be disqualified. • Any competitor attempting to escape a submission by going out-of-bounds will be disqualified. • The promoters of the Arnold’s will not tolerate any unsportsman like conduct. Any disrespectful behavior will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the premises of the athlete. • No refunds. Disclaimer: The promoters are not liable for any injury and / or accident involving the competitors. The event is properly insured. Medical staff will be on the premises to provide First-Aid as needed.

ADULT, JUVENILE, MASTER, FEMININE

The top 3 schools will be in the running for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place positions and school trophy's. Rankings will be calculated by overall points for the same school registered under the same name.

NOTE: A Registered Name for an academy must be the same for each academy to receive credit! Example: Team Academy "DOG" and Team Academy "CAT" will be considered different academies even though they are the same affiliated academies! NO EXCEPTIONS

The point system is the following:

Champion ------9 points Runner-up Champion------3 points

Double third places------1 point

The academy with the highest numbers of points will be winner and so on for the second and third places. All belts have the same scoring system and, only in case of a tie, the following rules will apply in terms of level accomplishments and weight:

First Criterion: Highest number of Gold Medals Second Criterion: Highest number of Silver Medals

Third Criterion: Champion with highest level Belt & Medal Ranking

Fourth & Final Criterion: Champion Heaviest in Weight & Highest Belt & Medal Ranking

NO OPEN DIVISION FOR WHITE BELTS!!!

Blue & Purple Belts - you may compete ONLY if you qualified in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place of your weight division.

All Brown & Black Belts sign-up online EXCEPT adult black belts. Adult black belts sign up in person at the event.
