Major Issues to Be Highlighted by at APEC 2017 (7/11/2017)

In the upcoming 25th APEC Economic Leaders Meeting and the 29th APEC Ministerial Meeting, Thailand will highlight its role in promoting sustainable, innovative, and inclusive growth.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Vietnam will host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders week from 8 to 11 November 2017 in Da Nang, with the participation of APEC leaders, foreign ministers, and trade ministers.

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha will attend the 25th APEC Economic Leaders Meeting. Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai and Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn will participate in the 29th APEC Ministerial Meeting.

In promoting sustainable, innovative, and inclusive growth, the Thai government has prioritized human resource development on the national agenda in order to prepare Thai citizens and society for emerging challenges, including technological advances, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and climate change.

In this connection, the Government has implemented the \"Thailand 4.0 policy and vocational educational reform, which aims to develop occupational expertise in line with labor market demands. It has also initiated the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) in order to support the Super-Cluster and other targeted industries along the Eastern Seaboard.

In the agricultural sector, Thailand will share its experience in encouraging local farmers to implement His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadejs \"New Theory, in accordance with the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. By so doing, new technology has been used to modernize their agricultural activities to be \"Smart Agriculture.
