It is applied to the star, the producer, the director, the writer and the other human ingredients that combine in the production of a motion picture. • And for all alike there is a common denominator—the boxoffice. • It has often been stated that each per- sonality is as good as his or her last picture. But it is unfair to make an evaluation on such a basis. The average for a season, based on intakes at the boxoffices throughout the land, is the more reliable measuring stick. • To render a service heretofore lacking, the publishers of BOXOFFICE have surveyed the field of the motion picture theatre and herein present BOXOFFICE RECORDS that tell their own important story. Atlanta Braves Clippings Wednesday, September 16, 2020 Braves.com As Duvall, Braves rake, 'you almost expect it' Slugger ties for NL lead with 15th HR -- 10th of Sept. -- and Freeman paces bats past O's By Mark Bowman Though Adam Duvall has hit more home runs than any other Major Leaguer this month, his September OPS ranks third on his own team. That’s just how ridiculous the Braves' offense has been while pushing the team toward another division title. Duvall belted his 10th homer of the month and Freddie Freeman recorded his seventh multi-hit performance within the past eight games as the Braves claimed a 5-1 win over the Orioles on Tuesday night at Camden Yards. “I’ve been in some top offensive lineups, but this one is top tier,” Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud said. “Day in and day out, you almost expect it every day. I’m really glad I’m a part of it.” With 11 games remaining, the Braves own a 3 1/2-game lead in the National League East. Their magic number to clinch a third consecutive division crown is nine. They’ve gotten to this position thanks to an offense and bullpen that have managed to compensate for rotation woes. How good has the offense been? Well, entering Tuesday, the Braves led the Majors this month in both runs (105) and home runs (35). Yeah, this can happen when you score 29 runs in one game. But it’s worth noting that no other team had more than 25 homers and the Mets (85 runs) were the only club that had tallied more than 80 runs.

Bam cannot tolerate the pain enough to remain perfectly still, so the brand touches him several times, resulting in multiple images that seem blurry or in motion. Bam’s mother, who usually plays the role of game audience for his antics, balks when she learns that her son has been hurt as well as permanently marked. She asks Dunn why anyone would ever burn a friend. “Cause it was funny,” Dunn answers.1 Jackass mines the body in pain as well as the absurd and the taboo, often dealing with one or more of the body’s abject excretions. Jackass offers no compelling narrative arc or cliffhangers, presenting instead a series of discrete segments that explore variations on the singular eponymous focus of the show: playing the fool. This deliberate idiocy is the show’s greatest strength, and its excesses seem calculated to repeatedly provide the viewer with a mix of schadenfreude, horror, and disbelief.

We’ll have a gay ol’ time: transgressive sexuality and sexual taboo in adult television animation By Adam de Beer Thesis Presented for the Degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY in Film Studies in the Faculty of Humanities and the Centre for Film and Media Studies UNIVERSITY OF CAPE TOWN UniversityFebruary of 2014Cape Town Supervisor: Associate Professor Martin P. Botha The copyright of this thesis vests in the author. No quotation from it or information derived from it is to be published without full acknowledgement of the source. The thesis is to be used for private study or non- commercial research purposes only. Published by the University of Cape Town (UCT) in terms of the non-exclusive license granted to UCT by the author. University of Cape Town Declaration I declare that this thesis is my own unaided work. It is submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Cape Town. It has not been submitted before for any other degree or examination at any other university. Adam de Beer February 2014 ii Abstract This thesis develops an understanding of animation as transgression based on the work of Christopher Jenks. The research focuses on adult animation, specifically North American primetime television series, as manifestations of a social need to violate and thereby interrogate aspects of contemporary hetero-normative conformity in terms of identity and representation. A thematic analysis of four animated television series, namely Family Guy, Queer Duck, Drawn Together, and Rick & Steve, focuses on the texts themselves and various metatexts that surround these series. The analysis focuses specifically on expressions and manifestations of gay sexuality and sexual taboos and how these are articulated within the animated diegesis.
