They aren’t about budgets, spread- sheets or those ubiquitous Sunday en- velopes. They’re about ministry. “Specifically, they’re about maximiz- ing the ministry we can do with the re- sources we have,” stated Deacon Joseph Braddock, Chief Financial Officer for the Jefferson City diocese. The COVID-19 pandemic has tightened those resources, even as it has revealed new opportunities for charity and outreach. In that way, it has highlighted the im- portance of a Christian ethic of return- ing to God a portion of His generosity. “As Christian stewards, we receive God’s gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in jus- tice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord,” Bishop W. Shawn McKnight explained. That return includes a financial tithe. Parishes receive most of their mon- ey from Sunday offertory collections, which go toward carrying-out essential ministries, including Catholic schools, U.S. dollars are seen with face masks during the coronavirus pandemic in this illustration photo.

  • Fr. Tolton Catholic High School Student/Parent Handbook 2018-19
Fr. Tolton Catholic High School Student/Parent Handbook 2018-19 1 August 1, 2018 Dear Students and Parents, Welcome to the Fr. Tolton Catholic High School community. At Fr. Tolton Catholic High School, we educate students within a community of faith founded upon the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Church. As a college-preparatory school, we have high expectations for both behavior and academic performance. We are committed to providing students with a challenging curriculum and equipping them with a strong moral compass and sense of personal accountability to ensure their success in higher education. By teaching respect for the dignity of every human person, we facilitate the growth of the whole student: spirit, heart, mind, and body. The curriculum and activities are structured to challenge students on their academic and spiritual journey so that they reach their fullest potential and cultivate their unique God-given talents into a lifelong devotion to learning and serving others. Decision making in our school follows our core mission of educating each student in four pillars of sprit, heart, mind, and body as one. Within the school, decisions are also prioritized by the order of the pillars as stated. This is the core of what makes us a Catholic school community. We are proud of all our school has to offer and encourage each of you to become fully involved in our programs and activities. This Student/Parent Handbook provides you with important information about our policies, procedures, and programs. Please read the Handbook and keep it as a reference throughout the school year.

Each Catholic family will see itself as both a reflection and an integral part of the Church and her mission. That is Bishop W. Shawn Mc- Knight’s goal in intensifying ministry to married couples and those who are about to be married. “The marriage bond is a unique and exclusive relationship between hus- band and wife for the sanctification of the couple and for the procreation and Christ-centered nurturing of children in a family,” Bishop McKnight stated. “Marital love is at the service of the couple, the children, the community and the world.” Toward that end, the bishop has ap- pointed five deacons to coordinate and facilitate aspects of marriage ministry throughout the diocese. For the next three years, they will help parishes promote sacramental marriage as a calling from God, worthy Doves and interlocking wedding bands symbolizing the sacrament of marriage are depicted in a stained-glass of meaningful preparation and lifelong window.
