Summary: This report summarizes preliminary fall-term 2019 headcount and full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollments at degree-granting colleges and universities in Illinois. The report also summarizes enrollments in remedial/developmental courses during the 2018- 2019 academic year. Fall 2019 preliminary headcount enrollments at degree-granting institutions total 720,215 and preliminary FTE enrollments total 541,187. Brisk Rabbinical College did not respond to the survey and therefore was excluded from the report. Fall-term enrollments provide a “snapshot” of Illinois higher education enrollments on the 10th day, or census date, of the fall term. Illinois MAP-Approved Colleges’ and Universities’ Graduation Rates and Student Loan Default Rates All schools that participate in Title IV Programs (Pell Grants, Stafford Direct Student Loans) must report a graduation rate to the Department of Education’s IPEDs data system. This rate is the percentage of first- time, full-time freshmen who complete their programs within 150% of the expected time-to-degree. For students in a bachelor’s program, this would mean completing in 6 years. For students in an associate’s program, it would mean completing within 3 years. The Department of Education also tracks 3-year student loan cohort default rates – the rate at which students default on their student loans within three years of beginning repayment. The table below lists school CDRs and graduation rates and also shows total undergraduate enrollment by school and some additional information to further explain CDRs and graduation rates. The “% of FT/FT in the graduation rate” describes the percentage of students who were included in the calculation of the 150% graduation rate. A low percentage here means that many students are attending part-time or began their studies at some other institution. The “% of students with loans” is the percent of students with at least one federal Stafford direct loan. It does not include private loans, credit card debt or loans initiated by parents. These moments allow us the opportunity to pause, understand, learn and engage, in a manner consistent with our Lasallian values. Therefore, in reflecting on De La Salle’s 300 plus year legacy of revolutionizing education, persevering through tribulations, and all while holding the student at the center of his mission. I too can see and feel those same tenets here in the College of Business, reflecting our Lasallian namesake through the following themes: Innovative; Resilience; and Compassion. Our Innovative successes over the past year have included launching an incubator to major curriculum revisions to our MS in Project Management Program. During the fall semester, as a result of joint partnership with the Des Plaines River Valley Enterprise Zone and Lewis University, the College of Business launched the Innovation Hub as a real world incubator and resource for faculty, students and the community alike.
