At 36, John Holt could look back across a more than two-decade-long glittering pop career, both as a solo singer and as a member of the A3 Paragons. Holt was in his early twenties when he deliberately began courting a maturer audience, transforming A4 himself into a family entertainer, old before his time. But in 1982, he found a new lease on life, publicly announced his A5 Rastafarian beliefs, and began deliberately courting the dancehall crowds. With albums like 'Selected Ambient Works' by the Aphex Twin and cities like London and Sheffield as a ground for the sound, Global Tracks displays how breakbeats should sound in 2019. This track was first released on Lorna in 2007, and Super Flu used its title when they later started their own label. Since then they have put out five studio albums and plenty of EPs on the likes of Mule Musiq and Hommage. Up first is ‘Monaberry (2019 Werkzeug)’ which is a dark, twisted tech house tune with subtle layers of bells and whistles, scintillating synth lines B1 and creeping darkness all making it utterly absorbing. A1 Greyhouse was the first of many aliases adopted by Dutch DJ/producer Marcel Hol. In the late 80's the first signs of 90's optimism and euphoria started. Marcel was young, creative and ambitious because he got his hands on some new equipment like the sampler. Electronic music was within reach. Greyhouse landed a recording contract with Hip A2 Hop Records, a dance label founded by Erik Van Vliet based in Rotterdam. In 1989 he released his debut single Move To The Groove / New Beats The House.' A1 Midwich is proud to present Moon Pool and Dead Band's MEQ (pronounced MEK--futurespeak for `mech'), an album A2 of swinging, dirty, analog techno-funk, created with mountains of old synthesizers. MEQ consists of Moon Pool and Dead Band's earliest track, reworked by some of Detroit's (and ex-Detroit) best producers: Patrick Russell, BMG B1 (Brendan M. Gillen of Ectomorph), JTC (James T. Cotton/Dabrye/Charles Manier aka Tadd Mullinix), Ice Cold B2 Chrissy (Coyote Clean Up), Michael Dykehouse, Erno the Inferno and Nate Young in Wolf Eyes mode. MEQ plays like an album, rather than a collection of remixes. The remixers were supplied with "stems" nearly one-half hour long, C1 leaving each with an abundance of raw material at their disposal. There are no cloying, repetitive vocal hooks to C2 disrupt the sonic narrative. Deep, dystopian techno-funk is delivered with the unerring raw assurance that only seasoned masters could deliver, leaving the music's rough edges appealingly unvarnished. The strong, danceable D1 music is rugged enough to test the limits of any club sound-system, yet contains nuances, subtleties and warmth that D2 make it ideal for home listening
