Hi all, Presidents’ Well it’s the middle of the year and we are in one of the biggest breaks we have between race meetings. I hope everyone has used the time to get Report their cars to look and run perfectly. I’ll probably be doing that on the Carl McHenry Thursday before Sandown.

As always a lot is going on behind the scenes with not much to report. The 2015 Tech Manual is out, make sure you read it.

Be aware that entries for the Winton Festival of Speed, our fourth round, close earlier than we are used to as this is a bigger meeting than the Vic State rounds so make sure you get them in on time. If you want a garage make a note that you want to be opposite the HQ shed as we are trying to keep everyone together. Also be aware that garages booked out at this meeting last year so don’t leave it too late.

Our sport is competitive and with that comes a range of emotions, happiness, elation, exhilaration, frustration, disappointment and even anger, presumably the reason we do it is to experience the first three. I suggest that we all focus on how we can achieve that and not on how someone else can cause us to experience the other emotions.

Cheers Carl McHenry President Vice-Presidents’ Report

It’s hard to believe we are already half way through the year and about to head into round three of the championship, where is the year going. Vice-Presidents’ The first two meetings of the year have been well supported so Report hopefully everyone has their entries in for Sandown as it would be Andrew McLeod great to see another big field of HQ’s on the track.

Over the last couple of years the one thing that has stood out has been the excellent driving standards shown from our category, something that has also been recognised by the Officials of the meetings we have attended. After our last round at Sandown I have been hearing whispers around the traps of a few people upset with apparent on-track incidents from that meeting.

The committee has a system in place to deal with these incidents so if anyone has a problem with the driving standards of another competitor please go and see our Driving Standards Officer Bob Wright or anyone from the committee. It is disappointing to hear second hand gossip about Joe Blow not happy with so and so, yet no one has gone down the appropriate path. I have also heard rumors of possible on-track retaliation. The committee is aware of these rumors and I can assure you retaliation will not be tolerated.

On a better note, the Winton Festival of Speed is also not far away and is a great opportunity for our category, remember entries for this event close before the Sandown round so don’t forget to send them in early.

Good luck to everyone at Sandown, see you there.

Cheers Andrew McLeod

Round 2 – Sandown

The second round of the HQRA Vic season was held at Sandown May 16 & 17 with another great field of 25 HQ’s. The weather was absolutely fantastic with sunny, mild conditions both days.

Qualifying on Saturday saw Rodney Easman take Pole Position with a 1:34.8983, followed by Kenny Wright, Andrew McLeod, Jordan Symes and David Tessari filling the top 5. A huge thanks to David Yates and Tiny Town Car Sales for putting up a “Pole Position” Cheque for $100.00 at each of the HQ events.

Race 1 on Saturday afternoon was an 8 lapper and saw some great racing throughout the field and included a number of lead changes before the Chequered Flag. In the end, Rod Earsman took the win, followed closely by Andrew McLeod, then Ken Wright, Jordan Symes, Perry Bekkers, Tony Moloney, Tim Yates, Andrew Magilton, Marc Tessari and Carl McHenry filling the Top 10 positions.

Race 2 on Sunday was an absolute cracker with the front pack of Earsman, McLeod, Bekkers, Wright and Symes all contesting the lead. At one stage Perry pushed Macca up the entire back straight taking the pair from 3rd & 4th and into the lead as they took Turn 6. After the 8 laps, Andrew McLeod took the win from Rod Earsman, Perry Bekkers, Ken Wright, Jordan Symes, Tim Yates, Marc Tessari, Carl McHenry, Reggie Wood and with Mike George getting 10th place.

The 10 Lap Race 3 and final race for the weekend, was set to be a ripper with very close racing the entire weekend. Again, there were a number of lead changes and the front pack of 5 cars were almost glued together for all 10 Laps. Rod Earsman was the eventual Winner over Andrew McLeod, Ken Wright, Jordan Symes, Perry Bekkers, Tony Moloney, Carl McHenry, Tim Yates, Marc Tessari and brother David Tessari filling the top 10 positions.

Although racing throughout the entire field over the weekend was exciting to watch, it was also very disappointing to see damage to a number of cars. This proved that there wasn’t one incident but a number of car to car contacts, particularly in Race 3.

Our Category has improved so much over the past few years with regards to car presentation and driving standards. No one wants to take home a damaged car and then have the grief and repair bills to prep for the next race meeting.

Personally, I didn’t think it was necessary for the Committee to remind drivers at the start of every race meeting about Driving Standards but unless standards improve, penalties will be issued. We will lose competitors who don’t have the time or money to repair their cars and keep them on the track. Round 2 – Photos Photos courtesy of Martin Creely http://martincreely.photoshelter.com

A cop stops a Harley for travelling faster than the posted speed limit, so he asks the biker his name. 'Fred,' he replies. 'Fred what?' the officer asks. 'Just Fred,' the man responds. The officer is in a good mood and thinks he might just give the biker a break and, write him out a warning instead of a ticket. The officer then presses him for the last name. The man tells him that he used to have a last name but lost it. The officer thinks that he has a nut case on his hands but plays along with it. 'Tell me, Fred, how did you lose your last name?' The biker replies, 'It's a long story, so stay with me.' I was born Fred Dingaling. I know -- a funny last name. The kids used to tease me all the time, so I stayed to myself, studied hard and got good grades. When I got older, I realized that I wanted to be a doctor. I went through college, medical school, internship, residency, and finally got my degree, so I was Fred Dingaling, MD. After a while I got bored being a doctor, so I decided to go back to school.. Dentistry was my dream! Got all the way through school, got my degree, so then I was Fred Dingaling, MD, DDS. Got bored doing dentistry, so I started fooling around with my assistant and she gave me VD, so now I was Fred Dingaling, MD, DDS, with VD. Well, the ADA found out about the VD, so they took away my DDS. Then I was Fred Dingaling, MD, with VD. Then the AMA found out about the ADA taking away my DDS because of the VD, so they took away my MD leaving me as Fred Dingaling with VD. Then the VD took away my Dingaling, so now I am Just Fred.' The officer walked away in tears, laughing.

Prince Charles decided to take up walking every day. Every day at the same street corner he noticed a hooker standing there. He learned to brace himself as he approached her for what was almost certain to follow. "One hundred and fifty pounds!" she'd shout. "No! Five pounds!" he said from the side of his mouth, just to shut her up. This ritual between him and the hooker became a daily occurrence. She'd yell, "One hundred and fifty pounds!" He'd yell back, "Five pounds!" One day, Camilla decided to accompany her husband. As the couple neared the hooker's corner, Prince Charles realised she'd bark her £150 offer and Camilla would wonder what he'd really been doing on all his past outings. He figured he'd better have a good explanation for his wife. As they neared the hooker's corner he became even more apprehensive than usual. Sure enough, there she stood. He tried to avoid eye contact as she watched the pair pass. Then, the hooker yelled: "See what you get for five pounds!" The New Humour Section

THIS IS AN ACTUAL CUSTOMER REVIEW FROM A MAN ON AMAZON.CO.UK AFTER USING ‘VEET HAIR REMOVAL CREAM FOR MEN’. (!!WARNING!!SOME EXPLICIT LANGUAGE) After having been told my danglies looked like an elderly Rastafarian I decided to take the plunge and buy some of this as previous shaving attempts had only been mildly successful and I nearly put my back out trying to reach the more difficult bits. Being a bit of a romantic I thought I would do the deed on the missus’s birthday as a bit if a treat. I ordered it well in advance and working in the North Sea I considered myself a bit above some of the characters writing the previous reviews and wrote them off as soft office types…Oh my fellow sufferers how wrong I was. I waited until the other half was tucked up in bed and after giving some vague hints about a special surprise I went down to the bathroom. Initially all went well and I applied the gel and stood waiting for something to happen. I didn’t’ have long to wait. At first there was a gentle warmth which in a matter of seconds was replaced by an intense burning and a feeling I can only describe as like being given a barbed wire wedgie by two people intent on hitting the ceiling with my head. Religion hadn’t featured much in my life until that night but I suddenly became willing to convert to any religion to stop the violent burning around the turd tunnel and what seemed like the destruction of the meat and two veg. Struggling not to bite through my bottom lip I tried to wash the gel off in the sink and only succeeded in blocking the plughole with a mat of hair. Through the haze of tears I struggled out of the bathroom across the hall into the kitchen, by this time walking was not really possible and I crawled the final yard to the fridge in the hope of some form of cold relief. I yanked the freezer drawer out and found a tub of ice cream, toe the lid off and positioned it under me. The relief was fantastic but only temporary as it melted fairly quickly and the fiery stabbing returned. Due to the shape of the ice cream tub I hadn’t managed to give the starfish any treatment and I groped around in the draw for something else as I was sure my vision was going to fail fairly soon. I grabbed a bag of what I later found out was frozen sprouts and tore it open trying to be quiet as I did so. I took a handful of them and tried in vain to clench some between the cheeks of my arse. This was not doing the trick as some of the gel had found its way up the chutney channel and it felt like the space shuttle was running its engines behind me. This was probably and hopefully the only time in my life I was going to wish there was a gay snowman in the kitchen which should give you some idea of the depths I was willing to sink to in order to ease the pain. The only solution my pain crazed mind could come up with was to gently ease one of the sprouts where no veg had gone before. Unfortunately, alerted by the strange grunts coming from the kitchen the other half chose that moment to come and investigate and was greeted by the sight of me, arse in the air, strawberry ice cream dripping from my bell end pushing a sprout up my arse while muttering arhhh ooooohhh that feels good ahhh Understandably this was a shock to her and she let out a scream and as I hadn’t heard her come in it caused an involuntary spasm of shock in myself which resulted in the sprout being ejected at quite some speed in her direction. I can understand that having a sprout fired against your leg at 11 at night in the kitchen probably wasn’t the special surprise she was expecting and having to explain to the kids the next day what the strange hollow in the ice cream was didn’t improve my status so to sum it up, VEET removes hair, dignity and self-respect HQ Sealers
