Extreme E is a radical new off-road racing series, founded by the same visionary behind Formula E, which will showcase electric SUVs and futuristic technologies in some of the world’s most remote and challenging environments. This five-event global voyage will utilise its sporting platform for the purpose of promoting electrification, environment and equality. The series’ goal is to highlight the impact of climate change in some of the world’s most endangered environments, promote the adoption of electric vehicles to pave the way for a lower carbon future, and provide a world-first gender-equal motorsport platform. 2018 Dakar // SS3: More bad luck for X-raid Nani Roma out of the race due to an accident Dakar stays in San Juan de Marcona for a loop Today, after two days at Pisco, the Dakar participants hit the road to San Juan de Marcona. In the 296-kilometre special stage, the MINI John Cooper Works Rally pairing Jakub ‘Kuba’ Przygonski (POL) / Tom Colsoul (BEL) secured ninth place, two positions ahead of Boris Garafulic (CHI) and Filipe Palmeiro (POR) in a second MINI JCW Rally. Orlando Terranova / Bernardo ‘Ronnie’ Graue (both ARG) came 16th. While Joan ‘Nani’ Roma and Alex Haro (both ESP) had an accident at the very end of the stage and were forced into retirement. By finishing ninth in another difficult stage, Przygonski secured 11th position in the overall standings. “The sun was shining virtually vertically from the sky and therefore, seeing anything in the dunes was nearly impossible,” revealed the young Pole. “Furthermore, we were stopped by a puncture but changing the tyre did not take us a lot of time. Later we hit a rock in a riverbed but this incident had no consequences.” Following yesterday’s bad luck – the collision with their team-mates – Boris Garafulic (CHI) and Filipe Palmeiro (POR) had a clearly better day, today. “We completed the stage without encountering any problems,” said the Chilean. Unfortunately we had to witness when we reached the finish that Nani had an accident.” Meanwhile, Terranova and Graue had anything but a good day. “We got lost several times and in addition we had to change a damaged tyre,” Terranova said annoyed. -

Con un tiempo de 11:29, el binomio se llevó la primera victoria con una ventaja de 23.73 segundos sobre el sueco Timmy Hansen y la británica Catie Munnings (Andretti United Extreme E). El francés Sébastien Loeb y la española Cristina Gutiérrez (Team X44) pisaron el tercer escalón del podio, a 1:38.09 de los vencedores, lastrados por problemas en la dirección asistida de su coche. The Role of Electric Motorsport in the Sustainable Mobility Transition Master Thesis – Master Sustainable Business and Innovation Author: Bram Weggemans Student Number: 6942857 Email Address: [email protected] Supervisor: Dr. Matthijs Punt Second Reader: Dr. Toon Meelen Date: 30-06-2021 Course: SBI-Master’s Thesis Word Count: 19940 Abstract Electric vehicles (EVs) are perceived as a viable technology for the replacement of combustion engine vehicles for a transition towards a more sustainable mobility system. Transition theory emphasizes that development of sustainable technologies such as EVs can be achieved within niches, which are protective spaces that shield sustainable technologies from mainstream market selection pressures. An interesting environment that has generally been known for innovative developments with regard to mobility has recently seen an increased usage of EVs. This environment is the motorsport. This paper therefore aims to identify the role that the electric motorsport as niche plays in the development of EVs for a transition towards a more sustainable mobility system. In order to fulfil this aim, a qualitative research approach was used where both semi-structured interviews and grey literature was analysed. The electrification of certain categories of the FIA World Rallycross Championship as well as the Extreme E were selected to exemplify the entire electric motorsport. The protective space conceptualisation of Smith and Raven (2012) that focuses on shielding, nurturing and empowering processes was used to conduct the analysis and describe the electric motorsport as a niche. The analysis showed that the electric motorsport as niche shows great capabilities of making contributions towards the development of EVs, but currently is not utilised to this potential. -

2017 CAMS Manual of Motor Sport 5TH CATEGORY - HISTORIC CARS 3. Vehicle Eligibility 3.4 HISTORIC TOURING CARS 3.4.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Groups A, C and U cover cars which have a documented competition history in their given periods and reference should be made to their specific regulations further on in this section for more details. Group N is designed to provide a forum for competitors to race production touring cars which do not necessarily have a racing history, but are presented in a form similar to racing of the period. Limited modifications may be made. These should be of a period nature and not out of character with the vehicle or group period. This section details the requirements common to all the Group N historic production touring cars that do not have a competition history. Additional specific requirements for individual groups are detailed in the individual group sections and all groups are also subject to the 5th Category general requirements set out in article 3.1. Vehicles shall comply with all relevant requirements of Schedules A, B and C (refer “General Requirements for Cars and Drivers” in the CAMS Manual of Motor Sport), where not in conflict with the Group N regulations. A high standard of presentation will be insisted upon at all times. Any vehicle considered to be of an inappropriate standard will be rejected. Vehicles decorated in a manner not consistent with the period (such as ‘modern’ graphics) may be considered to be of an inappropriate standard. Modifications may be made in accordance with the freedoms outlined in these and the group-specific regulations.
