As a bonus, there are a couple of contemporary interviews with Jeff Beck and a version of Curtis Mayfield’s It’s Alright by Rod Stewart’s Steampacket. Despite the Blue Flames having officially broken up in October Jazz / Blues ? ? 21.99 jazz – live in Europe 1967 ’66, the Offenbach band is in effect the Blue Flames, whereas at UNOFFICIAL RSD18 RELEASE Lucerne, it is the Georgie Fame Quartet on the bill. ‘The show with a quartet is very experimental,’ Fame explained, ‘with things like three part harmonies with voice, guitar and flute and new treatments of new tunes as well as some standards.’ 47. FIVE DAY WEEK STRAW PEOPLE: LP. Listed as one of Record Collector's ‘100 Greatest Psychedelic Psych ? ? 17.75 [same] Records’ (nestling immediately below the Moody Blues ‘In Search Of A Lost Chord’), this album deserves a place in any discerning record collection. It relates an imagined "typical weekend of the average nine-to-five worker" as they recounted in an interview at the time. The songs had been written by David Montague and Guy Mascolo, who had first met when they were hairdressers in Clapham in 1963. Guy had just co-founded a salon with his brother Toni, which since then has mushroomed into the hairdressing juggernaut that is ‘Toni and Guy’. 48. GORMLEY, Antony: Sounds of the Antony Gormley is a Turner Prize winning artist and creator of the Natural sounds 500 1000 27.99 studio Angel of the North sculpture. Gearbox Records have created a sound portrait of his cathedral-like studio in all its working glory. Hammers, grinders, fans, welders, and all sorts of other beasts reverberate in the vast caverns of this extraordinary acoustic space. A true AAA valve mastered mono recording, direct to 1/4 inch tape using the legendary RCA KU-3A ribbon microphone and pressed on 180gm vinyl for sonic excellence. 60. Manfred Mann began his hit-making career in January 1964, Pop 21.99 UNOFFICIAL RSD18 RELEASE when he wrote 5-4-3-2-1, the theme tune for a brand new TV show in the UK, Ready Steady Go. Side One consists of live broadcast versions of some of Mann‘s earliest records with Paul Jones on vocals. The tracks on Side Two were recorded in late 1966-67 with singer Mike D’Abo. It includes an early version of D’Abo’s celebrated song, Handbags And Gladrags and the very first public airing of Dylan‘s The Mighty Quinn. 86. George Melly introduces Zoot on this 1965 broadcast in Jazz/Blues - - 11.99 GEORGE MELLY: All night worker 1965. It features a couple of modern jazz classics The Rock and UNOFFICIAL RSD18 RELEASE Blues March along with Jesse Stone’s Smack Dab In The Middle and Rufus Thomas’s All Night Worker. These important recordings are lo-fi (they were recorded direct off a radio set in 1965) but vital and exciting. 93. MORBID ANGEL: Kingdoms disdained 180g 12” stunning picture disc. Here are some tracks that were taken mostly from continental Pop - - 21.99 UNOFFICIAL RSD18 RELEASE European TV broadcasts from 1966 and 1967. Listen to their versions of the northern soul classics Tired Of Being Lonely and One Love that have never previously been released. 96. NOTORIOUS B.I.G.: Juicy Widely considered one of the greatest rappers of all time, this 12” Hip-Hop 500 ? 17.99 inch single by Notorious B.I.G. is back on vinyl for the first time since its 1994 release. This “Best Rap Solo Performance” Billboard Award Winning, RIAA Platinum Certified single off the legendary debut album “Ready to Die” will be reissued on grey vinyl as a special Record Store Day exclusive. 97. N.S.U.: Turn me on or turn me down LP. An air of mystery surrounds this album, and indeed, even the Prog 500 5000 17.75 label on which it was originally released. DJ and percussionist Count Simon de la Bedoyere (aka Simon Stable) set up the Stable label in 1968, only to fold it a year later, but during that brief spell it released a handful of great , including this one. 98. ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK: 2LP. First release on LP for the BBC Radiophonic Workshop guru. Electronic 29.99 THE CHANGES by Paddy Kingsland 99. ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK: The LP is pressed on what is euphemistically described as ‘milky OST 500 500 21.99 COLOUR CLIMAX clear vinyl’. This is the holy grail for anybody interested in the by various artists history of the soundtrack to adult i.e. porn films of the last 50 years. Other pieces are compositions that have accompanied film festival showings of more bold and well-known erotic classics. They are performed under the umbrella name “Barn Jehovi”, by a myriad of musicians with whom Dave Collins has worked; they shall, for the moment, remain anonymous. The tracks compiled for this release have been remastered and in most cases remixed. 100. ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK: Blood red 10”. Double Date is an independent British horror film OST 17.99 DOUBLE DATE that was released to great acclaim in 2017. The film was directed by GOAT by Benjamin Barfoot who approached Goat to ask them if they would be interested in appearing in it. They went on to score the whole film! 101. Sam Waymon created an OST 1000 29.99 GANJA AND HESS innovative, ahead-of-its-time mixture of soul, tribal chants, gospel by SAM WAYMON and trippy dissonant experimental cues that makes for the strangest score for a vampire film. 106. ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK: White LP. Planet Terror was part of a double feature film release OST 500 3000 29.99 GRINDHOUSE - PLANET TERROR between Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. Planet Terror by ROBERT RODRIGUEZ stars Rose McGowan, who sings on three tracks exclusive to this soundtrack. The majority of the score is composed by Robert Rodriguez with contributions from Graeme Revell, (The Crow, Sin City), Chingon and Nouvelle Vague. 107. ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK: Marbled colour LP. Original soundtrack for ‘Miracle Mile’, directed OST 1000 31.99 MIRACLE MILE by Steve De Jarnatt (1989). This is the 12th film score from by Tangerine Dream and one of their strongest. 108. Originally released on CD in Japan in 2002, this is the first M500 ? 26.49 time on vinyl for Fed. This horn-led melodic indie gem draws parallels with Brian Wilson's quest for sonic perfection. Specially cut at 45rpm. 119. PRETTY THINGS, The: Live in Europe 7” EP. By 1967, the Pretty Things were at the end of the road as a Pop - - 11.99 66-67 hit-making combo in the UK. Their three 1966 releases would be UNOFFICIAL RSD18 RELEASE their last British chart entries and none of them got higher than number 43. The group were still in big demand in Europe though. Side One tracks are from a German TV show broadcast in 1966 and Side Two features songs recorded live in Paris in June 1967. 120. British artist Pop 500 27.99 Gemma Ray released her debut album The Leader in 2008 to widespread critical acclaim. 10 years later the album gets its first vinyl release as an RSD exclusive.
