Humanity Road - Uttarakhand 3W Report Activation: Uttarakhand Flooding, India Publication Date: August 12, 2013 Additional Information: DHN Solution Team Deployment Information Highlights Over a hundred organizations including ninety three relief organizations and seven digital organizations from the volunteer & technical community (V&TC) are responding to the monsoon floods in India. Over 4,200 villages are impacted by catastrophic flooding. On July 4th the Digital Humanitarian Network activation received a request from SEEDS India for mapping support and for collating aid response by region. The 3W Report (“Who, What Where”) is a report compiled from traditional and new media on who is responding, where, with what aid. About the Humanity Road: Humanity Road’s mission is to educate the public before, during and after disasters on how to survive, sustain and reunite with loved ones. http://www.humanityroad.org/AboutUs.htm Core services include volunteer surge support for Crisis Communications including both Virtual and Physical deployments. VIRTUAL: Social Media emergency and project Management, Real-time media monitoring of mainstream and social media, Time- sensitive web-based research, Microtasking which includes monitoring and response, vetted volunteer staffing social media responses. Data Collecting, Training spontaneous volunteers in social media emergency management, and PHYSICAL: In person Ground Support for Public Internet Cafe and project management for call center support. Humanity Road can provide virtual or physical coordination, training and collaboration for crisismapping and social media exercises including simulating the crowd. About the Digital Humanitarian Network: The purpose of the Digital Humanitarian Network (DHNetwork) is to leverage digital networks in support of 21st century humanitarian response. More specifically, the aim of this network-of-networks is to form a consortium of Volunteer & Technical Communities (V&TCs) and to provide an interface between formal, professional humanitarian organizations and informal yet skilled-and-agile volunteer & technical networks.
