    Global Migrations Conference Biographies – July 2014 Dr David Alston Independent Researcher and Historian David is the chair of the local Harbour trust. He studied full time at the Universities of Aberdeen (M.A with First Class Honours in Mental Philosophy, 1970-77) and St Mary’s College, Newcastle (Certificate in Education with distinction, 1980-81) and also studied part time at the Universities of Leicester (Diploma in Museum studies, 1994) and Dundee (1999) where he completed his Ph.D. in Modern History. His current research focuses on the role of Highland Scots in the slave plantations of Guyana before emancipation in 1834. He is one of the first Scottish historians to draw attention to the prominent role of Scots in the slave trade and the plantation economies of the Caribbean. Dr Laurie Anderson Executive Director of Simon Fraser University, Vancouver Dr Anderson is also an adjunct professor in SFU's Faculty of Education, an Associate in SFU's Centre for Dialogue, and the Lead Facilitator for SFU's Public Square. Previously Dr Anderson spent 30 years with the Vancouver School Board as a teacher, principal, director, associate superintendent and interim superintendent of schools, and taught educational leadership programs for senior officials in Hong Kong, Beijing and Bangkok. Laurie obtained his BEd, MA and PhD at SFU. Most importantly, Laurie was born and raised in Rutherglen and emigrated to Vancouver in the '60s. Prof Colin Calloway Professor in the Departments of History and Native American Studies, Dartmouth College Colin Calloway chair holder of the John Kimball, Jr. 1943. He received his Ph.D.

    April 15, 2019 Dear Members of the Media, On behalf of the Boston Athletic Association, principal sponsor John Hancock, and all of our sponsors and supporters, we welcome you to the City of Boston and the 123rd running of the Boston Marathon. As the oldest annually contested marathon in the world, the Boston Marathon represents more than a 26.2-mile footrace. The roads from Hopkinton to Boston have served as a beacon for well over a century, bringing those from all backgrounds together to celebrate the pursuit of athletic excellence. From our early beginnings in 1897 through this year’s 123rd running, the Boston Marathon has been an annual tradition that is on full display every April near and far. We hope that all will be able to savor the spirit of the Boston Marathon, regardless whether you are an athlete or volunteer, spectator or member of the media. Race week will surely not disappoint. The race towards Boylston Street will continue to showcase some of the world’s best athletes. Fronting the charge on Marathon Monday will be a quartet of defending champions who persevered through some of the harshest weather conditions in race history twelve months ago. Desiree Linden, the determined and resilient American who snapped a 33-year USA winless streak in the women’s open division, returns with hopes of keeping her crown. Linden has said that last year’s race was the culmination of more than a decade of trying to tame the beast of Boston – a race course that rewards those who are both patient and daring.

    Nr 92 2011 Föreningen De Stora Grabbarna gäller såväl kvinnor som män inom Friidrott Föreningen DE STORA GRABBARNA Gällande såväl kvinnor som män inom Friidrott. Föreningen består f.n av 331 medlemmar, varav 125 kvinnliga och 206 manliga med- lemmar. Desssutom 126 Stödjande Intres- senter. Det är även möjligt för företag att bli ”Stödjande Företag”. Syftet med fören- ingen är att vara forum för kontakt och gemenskap efter avslutad idrottskarriär. Vi vill även uppmuntra framtida Stora genom våra ”fadderstipendium”. För att underlätta kontakterna ger vi ut en matrikel, som vi med en del arbete håller ständigt uppdaterad med adress och tele- nummer och födelsedata. (För den skull Styrelsen i Föreningen De Stora Grabbarna som valdes av årsmötet i augusti 2010. Fr.v. Anne- att vi vill uppvakta på bemärkelsedagarna).
