The author is intent on defining whether recent demographic and social changes in the country have led to a new ideological and practical situation which is more favorable to establishing better relations with socialist Cuba.

Religious organizations have a considerable impact on the U.S. political system functioning. The recent tendencies point to their growing numbers, and Trump’s victory in the 2016 election has drawn more attention to the issue in the political discourse. The article’s intention is to study religious organizations’ role in shaping the current U.S. political agenda. The author also observes the issue of methods and means which lobbyists and think tanks practice to influence the political decision making process.

Demidov A. P. German NGOs in the Western Balkans.

The article systematizes information about German NGOs which are present in the Western Balkans and gives an account of their role in the realization of German’s foreign policy. The author analyses their priority working areas, means of influence on the regional countries’ internal political situation, and also their connections with local political actors. The German NGOs’ activities are characterized by a peculiar "division of labor" which helps achieving a maximum outreach of various local societies strata.

Podchasov N. A. The Development of Russia- Relations (2001–2018) as in the Case of Common Energy-Related Projects.

Russia-Bulgaria relations during the first two decades of the XXIth century were marked by sizable fluctuations. The full cycle from close cooperation to mutual alienation and later to pragmatic "bridge building" has passed until 2018. 8 CONTENTS № 5 (56) 2019

The author sees the reason of such fluctuations in an external pressure on and the inability of the Bulgarian government to assert national interests from the Euro-Atlantic partners’ intrusion. At the same time, a correlation between the Bulgarian internal political struggle and the state of bilateral relations with Russia is also analyzed here.

Zelenkova M. S. Some Issues of Vietnam-China Bilateral Relations.

The article analyses some historical background and actual reasons for the current state of affairs which is characterized by prevalent distrust to China among the Vietnamese. That distrust as well as recent unfriendly Beijing’s actions in the South China Sea and the Chinese economic expansion in the region have led to a rising "anti-Chinese nationalism" among the Vietnamese public. Vietnam’s government has recently encountered some difficulties in its efforts to contain the growing internal anti-Chinese sentiment which has not only contributed to deterioration of the national political situation but is also fraught with potential risks for the regional stability.

Tasits K. I. Recent Developments in the Relations between the South Caucasus Republics and China in the Context of Belt and Road Initiative.

The article observes the dynamics of China’s political, economic, and humanitarian ties with the South Caucasus countries during the recent years. The author analyses Beijing’s regional approach and the Transcaucasian Republics’ attitudes to the Belt and Road Initiative. An assessment of prospects for establishing new transit routs between Europe and Asia via the South Caucasus is also offered here.
