Greetings!

I hope this email reaches you in good health and you’re enjoying the summer weather. I’m writing this letter from a dorm room at the Quebec Military College. I’m currently the Offensive Coordinator with the Team Ontario U-18 team that is trying to defend its Football Canada Cup National Championship from a year ago. Our Defensive Coordinator, Matt Robichaud and our Recruiting Coordinator, Nial Both are here in Quebec actively attending practices and games representing the Warrior Football brand. This event has nearly four hundred football athletes from across the country, it’s a great recruiting event, this is the first time Waterloo has been present and we will continue to attend.

Recruiting for the class of 2015 has come to a close; we’re excited with our new prospects. We’ve started on our class of 2016 with sixteen on campus visits of blue-chip calibre players for next year’s class already in the books. There is a positive buzz about our University football program right now and we need to capitalize on this recent momentum. Recruiting is the lifeblood of a football program with aspiration for sustained success; we will leave no rock unturned.

We’ve had a very productive off-season training our players, they have demonstrated the necessary commitment and effort that is needed to be competitive, Matt Robichaud has been our acting Strength Coach and has done a fantastic job in developing our players over the last five months. Our current roster and incoming recruits are very excited for August 15, the first day of training camp. I can’t express how excited I am to get things started on the field.

Training camp will be very busy; on top of the daily rigours we will be hosting our first Warrior Football Alumni & Friends Golf Tournament on Friday Aug. 21. There are four options for the Golf Tournament: Single Golfer is $150.00, Foursome for Golf is $600.00, Hole Sponsorship is $250.00, and a Foursome and Hole Sponsorship is $750.00. You can register for the event here.

The following day (Sat. Aug. 22) we will be hosting the defending Yates Cup Champion McMaster Marauders in an integrated practice and scrimmage at Warrior Field. You are all welcome to attend the scrimmage and we would like to invite all of you to attend our first Warrior football pre-season Open House after the scrimmage is complete. The scrimmage will take place from 10am-1pm at Warrior Field with the Open House to follow where beverages and hot dogs/hamburgers will be offered. Please email Marshall Bingeman if you can join us; [email protected] .

Our Athletic Department and Central administration on campus continue to show their commitments to building and supporting the resurrection of our football program.

We recently conducted a search for a full-time Strength & Conditioning Coach specific to football and have selected a great young coach with an announcement to come in the next few weeks. Our Athletic Department have afforded us and demonstrated a commitment to our model of developing our student- athletes. I look forward to introducing our new Strength Coach in the near future.

Additionally Our central administration recently showed their commitment to enhancing our athletics programs and football program in specific. They have made a substantial commitment to the Athletic Financial Award pool. Please read below in regards to our new Named Scholarship Matching Opportunities and other ways to support the football program.

Warrior Football Excellence Fund

The Warrior Football Excellence Fund is an alumnus driven five-year fundraising campaign to support the Waterloo football program. There is two parts to our Excellence Fund, scholarships and competitive enhancements. The fund will provide the team and its coaching staff the resources needed to compete at the highest lever every year.

Waterloo Named Scholarship – Matching Opportunity

The University of Waterloo has a unique way for you to support Warrior Football, the ability to create your own scholarship. You will have the opportunity to set the amount of the scholarship, from $2,000 and up per year (minimum 4 year agreement) and to name it. Your contribution will then be matched by the University with similar naming options. Donors have named awards after favourite team mates, coaches, and their businesses, and your contribution will be recognized (or remain anonymous if requested). The donor is also eligible to set criteria on who is eligible to receive the scholarship in conjunction with the Warrior coaching staff. All recipients of a scholarship must achieve a minimum or 80% in their entrance marks to receive the award in their first year and 70% average for ongoing student athletes.

Warriors Football – Adopt-A-Warrior Program Donate here today

This is an essential fund, supporting the annual operating needs of the football team; contributions are necessary each and every year. We hope you’ll join us, and other alumni in helping to provide an exceptional student-athlete experience at the University of Waterloo. The Adopt-A-Warrior program helps to provide in season meals, team building opportunities, as well as off-season practice costs.

This is an exciting time for Football. I will reiterate my sentiments from my last correspondence. We are trying to rebuild this program; WE NEED YOUR HELP! We need you on campus and at our games. We need you at practice. If you can't get here, write us a letter that we can share with the team. If we play in your area, come to the game. If you see a recruit in your area, let us know. There are also ways to support the football program through corporate sponsorship and we have several different packages available. I hope that you can join us for our Golf Tournament on Friday Aug. 21 as well as our Open House on Saturday, Aug. 22.

Please don't hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing you in the near future at our Golf Tournament, Open House, and our games!
