#RCRALLSTARS WELCOME

A Letter From WFTDA On behalf of the WFTDA Board of Directors, Officers, and staff, I am excited to welcome you to the 2017 International WFTDA Playoffs in Seattle.

Once again, the WFTDA will be hosting non-stop, nail-biting games and teams from all around the world in a truly dynamic show of athleticism, drive, and passion for the sport of roller derby.

We believe roller derby can bring people together in ways that are real, strong, athletic, and revolutionary and this is evident in how the love of flat track has grown globally. We believe that this community of sport can impact individuals, cities, countries, and the world in so many positive ways.

We know our community of fans, announcers, skaters, coaches, photographers, volunteers and officials put in countless hours for flat track derby because they believe that roller derby makes us all stronger and better for being a part of this great game.

Take the time to say hi and thank you to our amazing hosts, Rat City Rollergirls, and all of their volunteers — without them none of this would be possible.

Enjoy your time in Seattle and we’ll see you ‘round the track!

Rat City Rollergirls are excited to welcome you to Seattle! Founded in 2004, Rat City was the first roller derby league established in the Pacific Northwest. We are a founding member of the WFTDA, but this is the first time we have had the opportunity to host Playoffs.

Seattle is a hotbed for roller derby with several leagues and recreational clubs in the surrounding area, and we are thrilled to be able to host and showcase so much world-class derby to the community. Good luck, have fun, and enjoy exploring our city!

ABOUT RCRG Rat City Rollergirls (RCRG) is Seattle’s premier, flat track roller derby league composed of about 80 active skaters and many retired skaters who have been promoted to the “biggest fan” club. The skaters are grouped into four home teams: Derby Liberation Front, Grave Danger, Sockit Wenches, and Throttle Rockets. In addition, an elite group of skaters are chosen each year to represent the league on its travel teams, the Rat City All Stars, ranked 16th in the world at the date of this publication, and the Rain of Terror (RCRG’s B Team). RCRG also offers several programs for skater development: the learn-to-skate program called Pinkies, Rat Lab Fundamentals, and Competitive Rat Lab, which is RCRG’s pool of draft-ready skaters.

As Seattle’s premier, member-owned roller derby league, it is our mission to maintain a competitive athletic program, promote the sport of roller derby, provide quality sports entertainment for our fans, and make a positive impact in our community.
