The scope of this MOBILISE is to foster a cooperative network in Europe to support excellent research activities, and facilitate knowledge and technology transfer around natural science collections. This will prepare the ground for a future pan-European Distributed System of Scientific Collections. Technical innovations like Next-Generation Sequencing and large-scale digitisation, including 3D imaging, increase the volume of research data rapidly. Strategies and protocols for sustainable data storage and availability have to be adjusted accordingly. Current changes in legislation (e.g. (EU) Nr. 511/2014) increase the need for traceability of genetic resources and for practical tools for documentation of specimens in collections. Technical solutions to provide scientific collections as digital data have been developed, but need to scale up and evolve from isolated project-based solutions in individual institutes to pan-European industry solutions targeted to rapidly changing societal needs, embedded in long-term sustainable structures. The COST Action MOBILISE will:

Facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology between researchers, domain specialists, data aggregators and industry by networking activities, events, workshops and trainings (“Open to the world”)

Promote the development of innovative techniques and coordinated prioritisation to increase efficiency of large scale collection digitisation and mobilisation (“Open innovation”)

Raise awareness about the need in science and society that, apart from physical access, sustainable data access infrastructures are an integral component of biodiversity research (“Open access”)

Parties Country Date Country Date Country Date Country Date Albania 20/11/2019 Austria 24/05/2018 Belgium 12/06/2018 Bosnia and 11/05/2018 Herzegovina Bulgaria 18/07/2018 Croatia 17/12/2018 Denmark 04/05/2018 Estonia 11/10/2019 Finland 21/06/2018 France 02/05/2018 Germany 28/05/2018 Greece 15/05/2018 Hungary 22/05/2018 Iceland 18/05/2018 Ireland 05/07/2018 Israel 31/05/2018 Italy 13/07/2018 Lithuania 10/12/2019 Luxembourg 25/10/2018 Malta 19/07/2019 Montenegro 04/07/2018 Netherlands 28/05/2018 North 30/08/2018 Norway 11/06/2018 Macedonia Poland 30/05/2018 Portugal 30/05/2018 Serbia 30/05/2018 Slovakia 02/06/2018 Spain 07/06/2018 Sweden 14/05/2018 Switzerland 05/09/2018 Turkey 23/10/2018 United 03/05/2018 Kingdom Total: 33 2 Intentions to accept the MoU Country Date Country Date Country Date Country Date Total: 0 Working Groups None Website None Management Committee Chair Vice Chair Dr Dimitrios KOUREAS Ms Ana CASINO Naturalis Biodiversity Center Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences Postbus 9517 rue Vautier 29 2300 RA Leiden 1000 Brussels Netherlands Belgium [email protected] [email protected] Albania Dr Marsela ROBO Dr Blerina VRENOZI MC Member MC Member National Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation (NASRI) University of Tirana "Papa Gjon Pali II" str.,nr.3 Petro Nini Luarasi 1000 Tirana 1010 Tirana Albania Albania [email protected] [email protected] Austria Mr Heimo RAINER Dr Nikolaus SZUCSICH MC Member MC Member Naturhistorisches Museum Wien Naturhistorisches Museum Wien Burgring 7 Burgring 7 1010 Wien 1010 Vienna Austria Austria [email protected] nikolaus.szucsich@nhm - wien.ac.at Ms Katharina WOLFEL MC Substitute Naturhistorisches Museum Wien Burgring 7 1010 Wien Austria [email protected] Belgium 3 Ms Ana CASINO Ms Sofie DE SMEDT MC Member MC Member Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences Botanic Garden Meise rue Vautier 29 Nieuwelaan 38 1000 Brussels 1860 Meise Belgium Belgium [email protected] [email protected] Mr Serge SCORY Dr Patricia MERGEN MC Substitute MC Substitute Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences Meise Botanic Garden rue Vautier 29 Bouchout Domain, Nieuwelaan 38 1000 Brussels 1860 Meise Belgium Belgium [email protected] [email protected] Bosnia and Herzegovina Dr Ivana KOLESKA Ms Milena STANKOVIC NEDIC MC Member MC Member Faculty of Agriculture University of East Sarajevo Bulevar vojvode Petra Bojovica 1A University of East Sarajevo, Faculty of Agriculture, Svestosavska 87 78 000 Banja Luka 75440 Vlasenica Bosnia and Herzegovina Bosnia and Herzegovina [email protected] [email protected] Bulgaria Dr Borislav GUEORGUIEV Prof Boyko GEORGIEV MC Member MC Member Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research 1 Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd 2 Gagarin Street 1000 Sofia 1113 Sofia Bulgaria Bulgaria [email protected] [email protected] Dr Alexander CHIKALANOV Prof Mariyana LYUBENOVA MC Substitute MC Substitute University of Library Studies and Information Technologies Mariyana Lyubenova Bul.
