" The lakes of Maine's wildlands lie like jewels on the landscape and in clude some of the largest, most pristine waterbodies in the Northeast. A growing interest in recreational property and other factors have turned people's attention to Maine's wildland lakes in recent years, evidenced in part by a significant in crease in lake related permit applica tions to the Land Use Regulation Commission (LURC).
