Thank you for purchasing (RSD-FDFM). Please through these operating manual so you will know how to use RSD-FDFM software.

1-1. Overview

RSD-FDFM software enables you to access CF(Compact Flash) with special format used by RSD-FDCF(FDD emulated CF Card Reader). Please prepare for a CF reader/writer with a USB cable to use this product. *CF formatted by RSD-FDFM software or FDCF hardware has a special format. Due to this special format, you can not use this CF formatted by RSD-FDFM or FDCF as a normal removable disk. RSD-FDFM software is required to access this CF with this special format via a CF reader/writer with a USB cable.

This software is compatible with the following 4 kinds of formats: Specifications Format capacity Byte/Sector 2HD 1.44MB 512 Byte/Sector 2HD 1.23MB 1024 Byte/Sector 2DD 720KB 512 Byte/Sector 2DD 640KB 512 Byte/Sector

● Confirm the CF reader/writer with a USB cable works fine on Windows. ● Confirm a drive letter assigned to the CF reader/writer. ● For more information on the CF reader/writer, refer to the installation guide which comes with the CF reader/writer package.

1 2. Installation on Windows PC

Please make sure that the CF reader/writer works fine on Windows first before the installation of software.

2-1.Installation 1) Insert the setup -ROM into your CD-ROM drive. Execute FDCF_FileManagerSetup.exe. If the following [] screen appears, click [Yes].

2)Click [Next] on the [Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for FDCF_FileManager] screen.

2 3)Click [Install] on the [Ready to Install the Program] screen.

4)Click [Finish] on the [InstallShield Wizard Complete] screen.

Now, you have finished installation.

3 2-2.Uninstallation 1) [] and double-click [Programs and Features]. Select [FDCF_FileManager] and click [Uninstall].

2) The following confirmation dialogue will appear. Click [Yes].

3) Click [Finish] on the [Uninstall Complete] screen and restart your PC.

Now, you have finished uninstallation.

4 3. How to use RSD-FDFM

This RSD-FDFM enables you to format data at Windows, convert it into a special format used by RSD-FDFM, and it onto CF media, so that you can use data stored at Windows at the CF media with a special format dedicated to RSD-FDCF. Data with a special format at the CF media can be saved at Windows. Here is an explanation of this RSD-FDFM software.

① Drive selection – Select a drive with CF(Compact Flash). ② When you remove the selected CF drive from a PC, click [Unload]. ③ Format the selected CF with a specified format type.

5 3-1.How to proceed with format CF media When you click [Format], the following dialog will appear. Click [Yes]. Please note if you click [Yes], all of data at CF will be erased.

Select a format type from the pull-down menu and click [OK].

When format is complete, the following message will appear. Click [OK].

Now, you have finished format.

④ Read – Data at CF media will be shown at View area. ⑤ Write –The content shown at will be written to CF media.

7 3-2.How to proceed with writing data to CF media Caution: The following 2 steps are required to write data to CF media.

2)By clicking [Write], data added to Tree View will be written to CF.

1)Select a location such as a volume label, folder, file shown at Tree View and drag data to the selected location to add it to RSD-FDFM software.

Folders, files with the characters in red color has not been written to CF media yet. At the point of time when adding data to Tree View of RSD-FDFM software, data has not been written to CF media yet.

8 2) By clicking [Write], the following dialog will appear. Click [Yes].The data added in Tree View will be written to CF by clicking [Yes]. The character color in Tree View will change from red to black for files, and blue for folders after finishing writing the data to CF.

Specify a save location and its name and click [Save].
