TRESEDER HEADS TO THE MOTHER LAND... urray Treseder has been appointed Head coach of the Great Britain men’s wheelchair basketball team. Treseder was the Head Coach of the MAustralian men’s wheelchair basketball team, the Rollers, since 2001. Australia is ranked number 2 in the world in men’s wheelchair basketball, while Great Britain have not been out of the top five at a major championship for the last 13 years. “We thank Murray for the contribution he has made to wheelchair basketball and, in particular, the Rollers,” Australian Paralympic Chief Executive Darren Peters said. “It is a credit to his coaching and the Australian wheelchair basketball program that he has been offered such a prestigious position in Great Britain. He goes with our best wishes for his new team.” Treseder formerly led the Rollers to a silver medal at the 2004 Paralympic Games and a bronze medal at the 2006 world wheelchair basketball championship in Amsterdam. He has also been the National Intensive Training Centre Program (NITCP) Head Coach for Western Australian for many years and has coached 99 Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) games. “Murray has made a great contribution to basketball at many different levels in Australia,” Basketball Australia Chief Executive Scott Derwin said. “His work in the NITCP program has been outstanding in WA and we thank him for this work, as well as his contribution to the wheelchair program and the WNBL.” It is hoped that the elite, professional culture that Treseder brought to the Australian wheelchair basketball program will continue in his absence. Good luck Murray!

NEW ARRIVAL... ongratulations to Bulleen Boomers Head Coach and husband Mark Holland Con the birth of their third child, daughter Georgia Matilda. Weighing seven pounds, Georgia was born on January 20 and became little sister to Zac and Sam.

The impending birth of her third child prevented Chambers travelling on the Boomers’ round 14 defencejobs WNBL /Townsville road trip, forcing assistant coach Kirstie Dench to take charge.

Dench performed admirably, registering an impressive 89-78 win over eventual grand finalists Sydney Uni before Baby Boomer losing 92-79 to Townsville the following night.
