(MAY 26, 2017) –Bookmarks is proud to present New York Times bestselling author Jeff Shaara on Thursday, June 1 at 7 p.m. at the Porter B. Byrum Welcome Center on the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC. Shaara will discuss his latest novel, The Frozen Hours: A Novel of the Korean War, and answer questions from the audience. A booksigning will follow the author talk. Bookmarks will be on site selling The Frozen Hours as well as other Shaara titles. The event is free and open to the public. Bookmarks will host a Meet & Greet Pre-Event Reception with Shaara at 6 p.m. prior to the event. Registered guests who attend the Meet & Greet will enjoy a glass of Raffaldini wine and reserved seating for the author talk at 7 p.m. Shaara will sign books during the Meet & Greet, and guests will have the opportunity to speak with the author. Reservations for the Meet & Greet Pre-Event Reception may be obtained by pre-purchasing a copy of The Frozen Hours from Bookmarks. Entry to the Meet & Greet Pre-Event Reception is limited to the first 75 individuals who pre-purchase The Frozen Hours from the Bookmarks website. Shaara has penned thirteen New York Times bestselling novels since his writing career began in 1996 with the publication of his first novel, Gods and Generals, which held a spot on the New York Times Bestseller List for fifteen weeks. Gods and Generals, which was written as a prequel to his father’s acclaimed novel, The Killer Angels (Michael Shaara), was awarded the American Library Association’s prestigious W.Y Boyd Literary Award for Excellence in Military Fiction in 1997. Shaara’s 2004 novel To the Last Man: A Novel of the First World War also received the Boyd Award in 2005. Shaara was a major contributor and participant in the National Endowment for the Arts’ Operation Homecoming program, in which he led writing workshops for military personnel at numerous military bases and aboard naval watercraft, including Fort Richardson, Alaska; Fort Carson, Colorado; Quantico, Virginia; the USS Carl Vinson; and the USS Mustin.
