20/21 SEASON Squad List Coach’s Report

Welcome to Wellington Phoenix players and staff for today’s game. Every game in this league is tough and there will be no exception today with the Phoenix boys another year older and easily the most improved team last season which comes with a bit of experience and tight competition. We had a great start last weekend with a 4-nil win over Canterbury who have added a few good names to their squad and will come back better than the game Saturday. Everybody played their part in a sound team performance. It’s always difficult having a big squad and leaving players out for a match day But it’s the way it should be to fight for a spot and fight to keep it once you’ve got it. As always, thanks to the coaching staff of Malcolm and Dan for all they do during the week and match days. Thanks also to the staff at Seddon Fields keeping the grounds, bar and kitchen running smoothly, and to the ball kids who do the all-important work of keeping our games moving. All ball kids this season will go in the draw to win an official club shirt – so if you have a child eight years or older playing for Western Springs, look for a staff member today to find out how to get them involved.

Cheers, Hobbo. Chairman’s Report

Good afternoon and welcome to Waitakere United’s first home game of the 2020/21 season of the ISPS Handa Men’s Premiership. Today, we welcome Paul Temple and his Wellington Phoenix team to Seddon Fields, for this round two match. The Premiership this season consists of eight teams, two rounds and a finals series. After our third-placing last season, we were disappointed that we were robbed of the chance to play in the playoffs due to circumstances beyond our control in March. This season we have once again joined forces with and are most grateful to Western Springs AFC for the opportunity to have the home of Waitakere United at Seddon Fields. It is our plan to make Seddon Fields our permanent home for the Premiership. I must also welcome back our loyal sponsors for another season, Triumph Motorcycles NZ, Lotto Sports, Williamson & Co Chartered Accountants, The Trusts, Auckland City BMW and finally, R-Line who supply electrolyte drinks to the team for their energy needs. To all of our sponsors, I thank you for your support and hope that you receive the value for this investment that you so richly deserve from all our supporters and stakeholders. I urge all our supporters to support our sponsors. In these times, they are like gold to a club. If you are interested in wearing a good range of Waitakere United clothing then it is available from Lotto Sports. You can access the shop via our website, waitakereunited.com/shop There is a great range of playing strips, polos, hoodies and jackets at very reasonable prices. Once again, thank you to all the Waitakere United staff. I think as the competition progresses you will see the dedicated effort that everyone has put in to get on the field this season. This season we have a great Media Consultant in Lisa Fromont. Please follow the club on all the Social Media platforms and visit our website for up to date information on the team and our campaign this season. If you want to be added to our network then please contact Lisa on 021 0825 7088.
