Sponsorship Proposal for the 2013/14 Season

Our 125th Anniversary Year

ALEXANDRA PARK CLUB

The Alexandra Park Club provides sporting opportunities to the local community. Based within the Old Racecourse at and Park we are in close proximity to Alexandra Palace Train Station and a short walk from Tube Station.

We are a registered Community Amateur Sports Club, meaning we are open to the whole community, and organised on an amateur basis. Our main purpose is to provide facilities for, and to promote participation in, Cricket and Football. We are a not-for-profit organisation relying on members fees, bar income and donations for the ongoing costs of running the club.

The Club is split into three separate sections;

The Cricket Section, founded in 1888, plays from April to September. The Section runs four Saturday league sides and one Sunday team as well as having numerous friendly games during the season.

The Cricket Club also has a relatively new Colts Section looking to run 3 junior sides in the 2013 season. The Cricket Pitches also host a number of outside games during the summer from local schools to City corporates.

The Football Section, founded in 1898, plays from September through to April. The Section runs eight Saturday league sides plus an occasional veterans team. Regular training also takes place at the Club for much of the Summer.

The Youth Football Section, founded in 2004 to meet the specific requirements for junior football in the area. The Section currently runs a total of 27 regular teams over the Winter from Under 8’s to Under 18’s, as well as having regular training sessions for the individual age groups. A football school is also run from the Club during school holidays.

The Club continues to work to develop sport in the Borough of Haringey. We have recently entered into a partnership with the London Borough of Haringey to increase participation in both Cricket and Football. The Council have provided funding to help improve our facilities to allow greater usage. This will allow local schools greater access to our playing facilities and the hosting of school cricket and football competitions.

Haringey itself is a very ethnically diverse area and we are well positioned to draw new players from the east of the borough where many wards are classified as being amongst the most deprived 10% in the country. At the same time we will continue to attract players and volunteers from the more prosperous areas of , and as well as further afield.

Club usage

We estimate that there are nearly 15,000 individual uses of the Clubhouse and its pitches during the course of the year. This is a combination of regular Saturday and Sunday sporting activities, training and club functions as well as use by local schools, corporate lettings (we are well positioned to attract City companies being close to a station only 20 minutes from Moorgate) and a long running football school held during the school holidays.

The Club also holds a number of regular events including;

End of Season Cricket Dinner End of Season Football Dinner Individual Youth Football Awards Nights (normally 3 or 4) A Fireworks Night August Bank Holiday Football 7-a-side Tournament

For the 2013 Season we are planning on a number of special occasions including;

May Bank Holiday Family Fun Day / Cricket 6-a-side Tournament Summer Dinner at Alexandra Palace Cricket matches against the MCC, CCC and Middlesex Over 50’s

Web Presence

Each section maintains an individual web presence as follows; alexandrapark.play-cricket.com and alexandraparkcricketclub.com alexandraparkfc.co.uk apyfc.co.uk

The Cricket Section also has a Facebook Group with over 130 members and a separate Facebook Page.

The Football Section is on Twitter and currently has over 400 followers and has written over 2,000 Tweets to date!

Distribution Lists

Each section maintains specific e-mail distribution lists for keeping in contact with their membership. Current numbers are as follows;

Cricket Section Circa 150 Cricket Section – Juniors Approaching 50 and growing Football Section Over 300 Youth Football Section Circa 400

All of these form focused distribution lists of people involved in the local area. Sponsorship Opportunities

With the three sections of the Club we can offer a range of bespoke opportunities to any sponsor providing differing levels of exposure and PR opportunities.

Clothing

Cricket kit is typically bought individually and we have a ‘shop’ whereby players can purchase cricket shirts and other regalia. A sponsor would have the opportunity to own the branding of new kit with their name/logo at either senior or junior level or both. A typical cricket shirt costs around £20.

Football kits are provided for each team individually. Typically the cost of such a team kit would be £350 for seniors and £250 for juniors. Opportunities are available to sponsor individual sides, sections or the club.

Publicity

We have outlined the range of ways we communicate with our members and the world outside. There are opportunities to advertise a company through a presence on the various websites or via direct mailings to the membership.

Pitch side Advertising

The club hosts a large number of cricket and football matches during the year. We benefit from our location and also have considerable numbers of people passing by the club. It would be possible to erect pitch side advertising for the duration of games throughout the year.

Event Sponsorship

We have outlined the range of events during the year and it would be possible to associate a company name with a specific event. This would be particularly beneficial on days where we look to bring in the local community as with the May Day Family Fun Day. With additional sponsorship we could also expand the fireworks event (already attracting around 250 people) to become a larger event.

What we can do for you?

As well as providing an opportunity to associate your company with a successful and established cricket and football club we can offer other benefits. As part of the package it would be possible to make use of the grounds for company matches for instance. We would also welcome you to relevant events that we hold or maybe become part of our distribution of flyers in pre-season.
