PROGRAMMA DI VIAGGIO

DAY 1 – WELCOME TO LAPLAND! We welcome you at the Kemi railway station or at the Kemi- (KEM) airport. Transfer in a private vehicle (30-45 mins) to our Old Pine Husky Lodge. This rustic lodge lies within a beautiful tall pine forest and is built in a historic farmhouse setting. You will stay in a double or family room. The lodge has a total of 6 rooms, and a cosy hall where you can relax and make coffee while you wait for the Northern Lights. A fridge, freezer and microwave oven are available. Toilets, sauna and showers are located in a separate building, around 30 meters away. Our husky farm is just a few steps away, and you will be able to live like a musher during your stay, taking care of the dogs and petting them and playing with them as they deserve. Upon arrival we will serve you dinner in our Husky Café Pizzeria, an authentic Italian place in the heart of Lapland. We also serve typical Lappish fare, which you will be able to taste the next day. After dinner, given the right conditions, we can look for northern lights in the magical pine forest. You may use our wood-heated kota to warm up if you feel cold. Upon need, overalls and shoes are available for rental.

DAY 2 –HUSKY, SAUNA, HOT TUB A buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant. Afterwards, we will enjoy a husky sled safari. The length of the route may vary according to snow and ice conditions. At the end of the safari, you can take a lunch break (lunch is not included) in our restaurant, or simply have coffee in the kota. You can always help with the dogs who will surely appreciate. There are opportunities to rent snowshoes or do a guided walk nearby. As it gets dark, you can relax in our wonderful old-style sauna, heated only by wood, and follow with a fantastic wellness experience in one of our hot tubs. Do not forget to bring your swimsuit, an essential in Lapland. Dinner with typical Lappish fare will be served in the restaurant, and we can try chase the northern lights.

DAY 3 – REINDEER AND THE CITY OF KEMI After breakfast, we drive you to Arkadia Farm (around 50 minutes) a real reindeer farm, run by a local family and located in the municipality of Simo. You can get to know these wonderful animals and learn everything about their life. You can feed them lychens, and (for a little extra fee) try a short round on a sled. Later, we can have coffee or a hot drink and cake in the wonderful wood-fired kota. In the afternoon, we will visit Kemi, its old harbour and try, upon the right conditions, a walk on the frozen sea. Optionally, you can visit Snowcastle 365, (entrance fee not included). Later on we drive back to the lodge, where you can relax and perhaps help with the dogs – they will be grateful as usual! Our sauna will be ready by 5 pm, and dinner a couple of hours later. Our last chance to see the Northern Lights awaits afterwards. DAY 4 – GOODBYE LAPLAND! Breakfast. Transfer to Kemi – (around 45 minutes). End of the tour.

OPTIONAL DAY WITH EXTRA NIGHT – SNOWMOBILE, FISHERMEN VILLAGE AND ICE A hearty breakfast is served at the lodge. Afterwards, it is time for adrenaline! We will transfer to the village of Kukkola (1h drive) and jump on our snowmobiles in a tour lasting around 2h (requires B driving license and normal physical shape). Every snowmobile has a driver and a passenger – we will stop midway for a driver change and a hot drink. At the end of the safari, we will visit the old fishermen village of Kukkola, which has been perfectly preserved till today. Museum buildings sit right next to the houses where locals still live, in an atmosphere that brings you back in time. In Kukkola we will meet a local fisherman who can tell you all about the fascinating fishing traditions. We can then have the most amazing experience of our lives: a snack while we stand on the river ice! We can try drilling a hole and see if we catch some fish – we can eat that, too! Another favourite pastime for locals is avantouinti, or dipping in the frozen water. This practice is recommended only for the brave and will leave you refreshed and surprisingly relaxed. We return to the lodge and have dinner before trying to see the northern lights.
