A free basketball clinic for girls of all ages will be conducted from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m., followed by a discussion about Title IX and its impact on female athletes. Lunch will be served from 12:00 – 12:45 p.m., followed by the tip-off of William Paterson’s women’s basketball game against nationally-ranked Kean at 1:00 p.m. At halft ime of the contest, the Pioneers’ female student-athletes will be honored for their academic and athletic achievements during the last year. Free T-shirts will be given to the fi rst 200 girls/women in att endance. For more information about the day’s events, co-sponsored by the William Paterson Uni- versity Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the William Paterson Wom- en’s Center, contact soft ball head coach Hallie Cohen (973.720.3016, cohenh@ Cathy Hartwell -- wpunj.edu). W. Swimming Senior, Toms River, N.J. Hartwell touched fi rst in both the 50 (26.68) and 100 (57.73) frees during a 120-118 win at Division II Queens College Jan. 21, and also was a part of the 400 medley relay team that turned in a winning time of 4:24.12. At The College of New Jersey Jan. 25, she was the Pioneers’ lone individual winner, fi nishing fi rst in the 50 (25.86) and 100 (56.81) frees. Hartwell also helped post a winning time of 1:57.57 in the 200 medley relay against the Lions.     An Atlantic 10 team has been to the NCAA’s every year since the tournament’s inception in 1983. In 1989 a league-high four teams represented the Atlantic 10 in the NCAA Tournament.
