Cincinnati, which had won the NCAA title the previous spring, had the ball and a one-point lead late when Larry Shingleton was called for a charging foul against the Shockers’ Jerry Kittiko. Dec 29, 1962 • 16 WSU 71, 2 Ohio State 54 The Shockers shot 58.3 percent and limited the Buckeyes to 44 percent shooting be- fore a Roundhouse record crowd of 11,375. Sophomore Dave Stallworth scored 22 points to pace WSU, which pulled away early with a 19-9 lead. Feb 16, 1963 • 9 WSU 65, 1 Cincinnati 64 Dave Stallworth scored seven straight points to wipe out a six-point Cincinnati lead during the final 3:10, as the Shockers upset the Bearcats for the second season in a row. The victory snapped a 37-game Cincinnati winning streak, and Stallworth’s 46 points would stand for the next two decades as the school scoring record, until Antoine Carr’s 47-point game in 1983.
