Dec 18, 1961 • WSU 52, 2 Cincinnati 51 Lanny Van Eman’s jump shot with three seconds to play gave the Shockers the win and snapped the Bearcats’ 27-game winning streak. Cincinnati, which had won the NCAA title the previous spring, had the ball and a one-point lead late when Larry Shingleton was called for a charging foul against the Shockers’ Jerry Kittiko.

Dec 29, 1962 • 16 WSU 71, 2 Ohio State 54 The Shockers shot 58.3 percent and limited the Buckeyes to 44 percent shooting be- fore a Roundhouse record crowd of 11,375. Sophomore Dave Stallworth scored 22 points to pace WSU, which pulled away early with a 19-9 lead.

Feb 16, 1963 • 9 WSU 65, 1 Cincinnati 64 Dave Stallworth scored seven straight points to wipe out a six-point Cincinnati lead during the final 3:10, as the Shockers upset the Bearcats for the second season in a row. The victory snapped a 37-game Cincinnati winning streak, and Stallworth’s 46 points would stand for the next two decades as the school scoring record, until Antoine Carr’s 47-point game in 1983.

Dec 08, 1965 • WSU 100, 2 Michigan 94 With star guard Kelly Pete on the bench because of a bruised thigh, the Shockers shot 64.5 percent and had five players with 16 or more points. Junior Jamie Thompson was 9-of-9 from the floor and 10-of-10 from the free-throw line for a game-high 28.

Feb 08, 1966 • WSU 92, 3 Loyola-Chicago 84 Wichita State snapped Loyola’s 14-game win-streak, battling back from a 10-point deficit in the first half. Warren Armstrong had 25 points and 18 rebounds, while Kelly Pete had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Shockers.
