' "' When more than 300 boys, eleven of whom have equaUed or bettered national interscholastic records during the course of a season, converge on one location for a championship meet, nn. atmosphere of excitement is sure to prevail. That's the setting in Los Angeles this weekend where the elite of the prep track and field world from throughout the state run head·to-head in the California Interscholastic Federa· tion's State Finals. Entries from 160 schools-302 boys-have qualified for competition in the 46th renewal of the CIF Track and Field Championships which will start on Friday with trials in aU ('\-cnts but the discus and conclude on Saturday with the finals in 13 events. Three Mike Ryan, 4:12.4 miler from Wilcox' High heats in running events are on the agenda with the first three in Santa Clara, is pictured on cover winning finishers advancing to the finals.
