Released through Dirty 38 Records ahead of a nationwide UK tour in November 2016, ‘Come Alive’ embodies the raw, honest and captivating energy that any truly great rock anthem should; the song wears its heart on its sleeve with every belted line and every screech of the guitar. Recorded live and produced by the band in an old theatre, the song is a potent taste of the bands upcoming debut scheduled to be released in Summer, 2017. Forming in a pub during a drunken conversation between friends, the band instantly became a hit in their hometown of Bath, with their unpredictable chaotic live shows and a vast catalogue of contagious songs. Narrow Plains were nominated in 2016 UMAs and won Hard Rock Rising Early fans from the likes of Dermot O’Leary and Rhod Gilbert on Radio 2, 2015, London. Gus moved to Belfast in 2013 to study Sonic Arts at Queen’s University, where he developed his song-writing and sound. The fourth Monmouth Busking Festival is set to be staged once again in the wonderful setting of Agincourt Square with the open mic stage providing a lively vibe to the weekly Saturday market. Musicians and street performers of all ages, genres and abilities are welcome to help bring the town alive on the first festival Saturday. How it works: Performers are asked to arrive early and register – no pre-booking is allowed so if you wish to perform on the open mic stage in Agincourt Square you need to book a slot from 9am – a word of warning – last year the stage was fully booked by 10:15am! Performers are then free, and asked, to busk around the town until their allocated slot – anyone wishing to rehearse their stage performance is welcome to busk on the outdoor stage in the family beer garden at the Robin Hood public house. Buskers are politely reminded that amplification is not permitted in performance zones around the town. From the open mic stage performances the festival committee will select up to six performers who will be given a slot on the Monmouth Festival Main Stage during the afternoon of Sunday 30th July at the Monmouth Festival Fun Day in Blestium Street. If you have any questions, or require further information please contact Nick Penny at [email protected] Monmouth Busking Festival is run in collaboration with Nick Penny Event Services / Music Industry Services and forms part of the and Busking Festival series along with Coleford Busking Festival (17th June) and Ross on Wye Busking Festival (9th September).

We all know that Monmouth Festival is a free festival but do you know how much it actually costs to put on? This year we estimate that it will cost between £60,000 and £65,000. Our core team, our directors, our committee members and associates all give freely of their time to ensure that the Festival happens but whilst we do not pay any of our team, we do pay a 17% plethora of people and organisations. Before we can even book the artists we have to be licensed, approved, risk assessed and insured. TRADERS 13% Blestium Car Park has to be transformed into a festival site, which means hiring a stage, lighting and sound equipment; storage and changing facilities, toilets, generators and fencing. GRANTS These elements account for over two thirds of the overall cost of staging the Festival and the money raised from grants, traders' fees, the Festival Brochure, screen adverts and fundraising events, is used to pay these costs.
