1 /23 3.6 Touchdown! Soyuz capsule returns astronaut trio to Earth. (5.50/6) Three space travelers are safely back on Earth after a 115-day stay on the International Space Station.

Returning on a Russian Soyuz space capsule, U. S. astronaut Kate Rubins of NASA, Russian cosmonaut and Expedition 49 Commander Anatoly Ivanishin of Roscosmos and Japanese astronaut Takuya Onishi landed near Kazakhstan at 9:58 a.m. local time on Sunday (Oct. 30), or 11:58 p.m. EDT (0358 GMT). You can see how the landing went in this NASA video.

"Touchdown confirmed," NASA spokesman Rob Navias said during the agency's landing webcast commentary. "After a journey of 115 days and 48.9 million miles, the Expedition 49 crew is home. "

The spacecraft's departure from the station at 8:35 EDT (0035 GMT) marked the end of Expedition 49 and the start of Expedition 50. The three station crew members launched to the station together on July 6.

This was the first spaceflight for Rubins and Onishi. Ivanishin flew to the station in 2011 as a member of Expeditions 29 and 30. During her time in orbit, Rubins participated in a spacewalk to install an international docking adapter, which will allow commercial vehicles to dock with the station in coming years. She also became the first person ever to sequence DNA in space.

2 /23 0.5 Dallas opera lover 'sprinkled the ashes of a beloved friend' into the Met's orchestra pit, igniting a terrorism scare and forcing the cancellation of a show (4.18/6) An opera buff from Dallas who was eager to attend a show at the Metropolitan Opera in New York's Lincoln Center on Saturday instead caused a terrorism scare by scattering the ashes of his dead friend inside the orchestra pit. Roger Kaiser, a 52-year-old jeweler, forced the cancellation of a matinee performance of Guillaume Tell, a French libretto based on the play William Tell, after he approached the orchestra pit during the second intermission and sprinkled a white powder inside. Those in attendance at the show did not know of the incident until they saw a large contingent of police officers enter the theater, the New York Post reported. At that point, a Met employee informed audience members that the rest of the show as canceled, prompting some angry fans to demand their money back. 'Everybody kind of slowly walked out,' said Dylan Hayden of Toronto. 'As we were exiting the building, I noticed the counterterrorism unit going into the building.' Hayden, who was seated in the 11th row back, added, 'The idea that they said that it was a technical error, when I was maybe 15 feet away from a potential dangerous substance, that kind of irks me a little bit. But at no point did I feel an actual threat.' Micaela Baranello, a musicologist at Smith College in Massachusetts, said some audience members booed when the cancellation was announced and one man chanted, 'I want my money back, I want my money back.' Gelb said people who had Saturday tickets to either opera should call the Met and make arrangements to see a later performance. Baranello, who spoke by phone from a train headed back to Massachusetts, said that's not so easy for opera fans who don't live in New York. 'It's too bad because most of the best music in "Guillaume Tell" is in Act 4, in my opinion,' she said. Kaiser initially fled the opera house in Lincoln Center but police later said they knew who he was and were reaching out to him. On his Facebook page, Kaiser posted a photo of himself holding two opera tickets. In another post, he photographed himself with an apple on his head. In Germanic folklore, Tell shoots an apple off the head of an Austrian noble. Authorities also noted that disposing of ashes in an opera house may violate the city health code, but said police do not see 'any criminal intent here.' 'As a safety precaution, the Met canceled the remainder of the performance,' Met spokesman Sam Neuman said in a statement. It also canceled the evening's performance of L'Italiana in Algeri while the authorities investigated the incident. Audience members at the matinee performance of Guillaume Tell described confusion as the intermission went on longer than usual. A Met representative at first announced that a technical issue was causing the delay, then returned a few minutes later to announce that the fourth act would not be performed. The audience was told to go home. NYPD officials said the disposal of ashes at an opera house may violate city codes but, 'I don't believe at this point that we see any criminal intent here.' Met General Manager Peter Gelb said, 'We appreciate opera lovers coming to the Met. We hope that they will not bring their ashes with them.'

4 /23 0.6 Police Seek To Interview Person After Ashes Cause Security Scare At Met Opera (1.04/6) NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police have identified a person they want to interview after someone apparently sprinkled cremains into the orchestra pit at the Metropolitan Opera House and caused a security scare.

Police were called and a performance of Gioachino Rossini’s “Guillaume Tell” was canceled at the opera house at Lincoln Center , after the powdery substance was sprinkled during second intermission around 5:23 p.m.

“We have spoken to more than one witness who said they spoke to an individual from out of town who indicated that he was here to sprinkle ashes of a friend – his mentor in opera – during the performance,” NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence and Counter-terrorism John Miller said on WCBS 880.

Miller said the man sprinkling the ashes was noticed by the orchestra.

“Members of the orchestra, during an intermission in the show, noticed an individual in a suit who approached the orchestra pit, reached into a bag, removed a powdery substance, sprinkled that into the orchestra pit, moved further down, reached into the bag again, and sprinkled more of the substance into the orchestra pit,” Miller said.

He said no one was struck by the ashes.

“It was tossed in small amounts from in front of the front row down into the orchestra pit. The intermission was going on, so the only people in the orchestra pit were a couple of musicians who were lingering,” Miller said.

“As it seems to be the case, obviously ashes of an opera lovers mentor being sprinkled into the pit, although certainly inconveniencing all of us, is a far cry better than anything else. You know we appreciate opera lovers coming to The Met, we hope that they will not bring ashes with them,” General Manager Peter Gelb said in a statement.

Chair of the Metropolitan Opera Committee Jessica Phillips released a statement, saying “While this incident is extremely troubling to say the least, we are grateful that no one was seriously injured and none of the priceless instruments which had to be abandoned in the orchestra pit, due to emergency evacuation, suffered any damage. I’m sure that on Monday morning the Met Opera be reevaluating it’s security protocols.”

Miller said police have identified someone they want to interview.

“We reviewed security cameras as well as other systems here within the Met, and were able to identify an individual who we believe is somebody who we’d like to talk to,” he said.

Miller said sprinkling cremains in public places is not a new phenomenon, though it has not been seen before at the Met Opera.

“We have had people do this in other venues – stadiums, public places, monuments – in trying to honor people. So it’s not something that we haven’t seen before,” he said.

Audience members were instructed to call the Met’s Customer Care department at (212) 362- 6000 to make arrangements to see the show at a later date.

5 /23 4.8 Surprise! Arcade Fire pops up with intimate New Orleans show (1.04/6) Despite the across-town thumping and raging of the music festival Arcade Fire are due to headline for its closing night, frontman Win Butler had other things on his mind Saturday (Oct. 29). Namely, a bottle of red wine, a sleeve of plastic cups and efforts to quietly mingle his way through groups of friends, friends-of-friends and new faces with ears eager to hear what his band has been cooking up in the three years since their last album.

By the end of his night, no one was disappointed.

Arcade Fire took over an empty space at Secondline Stages in New Orleans and transformed it into a proving grounds for the night to showcase a taste of what seems like to transform into its newest project. Performing in front of an audience of about 175 Halloween costumed fans, the Montreal-based group unleashed a storm of dynamic, danceable rock. With a sharp focus on heavy topics but percussive-heavy beats and a flavor of disco, Arcade Fire shared some new music they seem ready and eager to share with larger crowds.

The latest news, however, is that the new album isn't due until the spring of 2017 -- but that's old information as it is. Band- member Will Butler teased its release during a Reddit AMA over the summer, noting even then that the time-frame was speculative.

In all, though, the Saturday surprise was a beautiful night born out of opportunity and luck for the few gathered there, who shared in one of the band's handful of performances scheduled this year. It appeared that, for many, the chance to be in the audience — which included a handful of local musicians — involved the story of a vague email or Facebook message from a friend. Many seemed to unexpectedly recognize other friends in the audience as they shared a glance and then hugs.

"I feel like I keep getting presents," laughed one woman as she experienced the night's offerings.

Attendees were told little more than to arrive at Secondline at 9 p.m., where cell phones were confiscated at the door. Once inside, bartenders served mixed cocktails under a haze from fog machines. White spider webs stretched across orange strings of lights, which met at a rotating disco ball overhead. Below, Butler oversaw DJ duties as he and fellow band-members poured his guests cups of wine. About a third of the room was taken over by the performing space, a formal set-up of Arcade Fire's massive collection of road gear and instruments: Violins, guitars, basses, keyboards, two full drum kits, a row of mic stands and a steel drum were among the necessary items assembled.

First came a warm-up from the Pinettes Brass Band before Arcade Fire took their places. What followed then was a trip through a set list of 14 old and new songs, some of which were fresh enough to prompt Butler to keep a music stand with lyric sheets nearby. But then there was also a medley with the "Ghostbusters" theme song and Butler ad libbed about a clown living in a tower in the sky. His wife, fellow band-member and multi-instrumentalist Regine Chassagne, looked on with a smile and a shake of her head.

"Thank you all for being here," Butler said, the only recognition of the night's special meaning. He and Chassagne, who have lived in New Orleans at least part time since Arcade Fire's much lauded 2013 release, "Reflektor," have quietly become part of the city's fabric even as they seem to explore their infatuation with it. Their most notable exploit involved a memorial second-line for David Bowie, drawing thousands to a French Quarter tribute for the British musician earlier this year.

Finally on Saturday, the sweaty, smiling members of Arcade Fire wrapped up and stepped out from behind their instruments, joining, again, the small crowd of friends who were just happy to be there.

They'll next perform in front of a larger audience thanks to a headlining, closing set at Voodoo Fest on Sunday. Arcade Fire is due to take the Altar Stage at 7:30 p.m.

6 /23 3.3 4 years after Sandy, Christie's plans have changed

(1.02/6) TRENTON, N. J. (AP) — It’s been four years since New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie put on his blue fleece pullover and got to work dealing with Superstorm Sandy.

A few days after the storm made landfall in Atlantic City on Oct. 29, 2012, Christie threw presidential politics to the remnants of the wind and welcomed President Barack Obama to tour the damage at the Jersey shore. His leadership during and after the storm helped him coast to re-election in a campaign that assisted him in building a brand aimed at a 2016 presidential run.

He had hoped that by now, the fourth anniversary of the storm making landfall in New Jersey, he would be days away from voters choosing him as the 45th president.

Instead, the Republican is working for Donald Trump and his own political story has turned out much differently. This month, his approval rating was his lowest yet. The Fairleigh Dickinson University survey showed just 21 percent of registered voters surveyed approved of the job Christie was doing, while 62 percent disapproved.

A look at the four stages of Chris Christie four years since Superstorm Sandy:

___

THE LEADER

Christie was front-and-center before and during the storm. Wearing his trademark blue fleece, he begged for people to get out of harm’s way, marshalled resources to respond to damage and then toured devastated areas and lent his shoulder for victims to cry on.

Even with Election Day six days away, Christie welcomed Obama to tour the damage. His friendly greeting of the president was derided by conservatives (“a hug!” they declared), but in the moment, all that mattered to Christie was getting the resources he needed to help New Jersey.

“I don’t give a damn about Election Day,” said Christie, who had campaigned heavily for Mitt Romney. “It doesn’t mean a lick to me.” His response to the Sandy — “stronger than the storm” went the state-backed advertising campaign featuring Christie and his family — led to skyrocketed support. Nearly 70 percent of the state had a favorable impression of him in a Rutgers-Eagleton poll taken after Sandy.

___

THE CAMPAIGNER

A year later, Christie won re-election by a wide margin as his political team used that campaign as a way to build bipartisan support from around the state for a potential 2016 presidential bid.

But those efforts led to one big problem: Bridgegate — a scheme in which prosecutors say Christie allies colluded to close bridge lanes and create traffic jams to punish a Democratic mayor for his refusal to endorse Christie.

Christie was never charged and a taxpayer-financed report found he had no knowledge of the lane closures. But questions about the scandal have not stopped dogging him since.

Four witnesses in the criminal trial testified that Christie knew about the lane closings either while they were going on or before telling reporters he had no knowledge.

___

THE WHITE HOUSE CANDIDATE

None of that deterred Christie from his White House ambitions.

After his re-election, Christie became chairman of the Republican Governors Association, giving him an in with influential GOP members around the country.

He was considered an early front-runner, and also made a series of international trips seen as building up his commander in chief credentials.

Christie began touring the country after declaring his candidacy in June of last year, selling his brash and blunt New Jersey-guy-who-tells-it-like-it-is pitch. He spent more than 250 days either totally or partially out of his home state, costing taxpayers more than $600,000 for his mandated security detail.

While the telling-it-like-it-is mantra had long worked for Christie in his late-night TV appearances and conversations with national news media, it wasn’t enough to gain any traction in a race with a candidate like Trump.

Christie dropped out after coming in a disappointing sixth place in New Hampshire.

____

THE TRUMP SUPPORTER

Two weeks later, Christie became one of the first establishment Republicans to back Trump. Christie has been standing by Trump’s side since, or in the case of a famous March news conference where social media users questioned whether he was being held hostage, right behind him. He called Trump the best candidate to defeat Hillary Clinton and became one of his key surrogates, eventually named to lead Trump’s transition team after finishing behind Indiana Gov. Mike Pence for the vice presidential spot.

After tapes were released of Trump’s sexually aggressive comments about women, Christie said in what has become a frequent job hosting sports talk radio that the comments were “completely indefensible” but that he believed Trump was sincere in his apology.

While Christie has cut down on his public appearances with Trump, he’s still working on getting him elected.

The support could pay off big for Christie if Trump pulls out a win over Clinton. If Trump loses, though, it’s not clear what Christie’s next step will be after he leaves the governor’s office after next year.

While some political watchers wonder whether a career in sports talk radio could be next, whatever Christie does it won’t be what he was hoping for four years ago.

9 /23 3.8 Jennifer Lopez Supports Hillary Clinton at Free Concert in Miami (0.01/6) 11:12 AM PDT 10/30/2016 by

Suzette Fernandez, Billboard

Not even the rain could stop Jennifer Lopez from showing her support for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton during a packed free concert in Miami's Bayfront Park Saturday night (Oct. 29).

“We are about to have our first woman president. Respect!” Lopez said.

The show started with Cuban duo Gente De Zona, who kicked the big "fiesta" singing “Bailando,” “Algo Contigo” and, of course, the famous “Gozadera," where Marc Anthony made a surprise appearance to sing the chart-topping hit along with his pals.

Besides that, Anthony’s participation was limited only to present Lopez's performance. "This is an unforgettable night. I'm here to honor and support a woman who I've trusted with my children and my life," said Anthony, who was also very clear on how proud he feels of being Latino and the importance of voting in the elections. Lopez appeared on stage wearing a short white and red suit, which included a belt simulating the flag of the United States. Her performance included “Waiting for Tonight,” “Get Right,” “Love Makes the World Round” and “Let’s Get Loud,” among others. Before closing the show, Lopez endorsed Hillary Clinton: “We have to take the right road to the future, we have the perfect person to take us there,” she said.

Then, Clinton stepped on stage and thanked Lopez and Anthony for the support. Of course, she didn't miss the opportunity to take a jab at Trump: "Donald is out there stocking fear. "

The one-hour show was accompanied at all times by videos showing excerpts from speeches by John F. Kennedy, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton, referring to the Latino community and women's rights.

On Saturday the 19-year-old reality star dressed up as Christina Aguilera from her Dirrty music video. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star had on a bikini top and chaps with undies. Her top was a red and white striped string bikini. Her bottoms were red briefs with an X on the back. It looked like she was wearing chaps of some kind and thigh high leggings. The teen also wore her blonde locks down with the end dipped. This comes after the star threw a Dead Dinner on Friday. Some of her family members were there for the corpse themed bash. The E! star wore heavy white face paint and slicked back her blonde locks to look like the living dead. Jenner also had white paint on her neck that made her look like a skeleton. Red lipstick and black fake lashes rounded out her glam. The teen also wore a very sexy black sheer dress that showed off her cleavage. Also at the bash was her beau Tyga who looked like a very scary skeleton. He also had on a black outfit and high top sneakers. They called the night their Dead Dinner. Kendall did not look dead at all. In fact, the ubermodel seemed as if she had just come off a fashion catwalk. The Calvin Klein darling had on a plunging black dress with a choker. The daughter of Kris Jenner, 60, also wore sexy thigh high stockings. And in one Snapchat video she showed off her chest and wrote BOOBS over it. The menu included Rotten Tomato Soup, Potion Pear Salad, Penne with Creamy Blood Sauce and Chocolate Ice Cream Caskets. It appeared as if the party was thrown at one of their homes. It did not look like Kim, Kourtney or Khloe made it. Kourtney seemed to get dressed up as well even if she was not at the bash. The mother of three had on a dark outfit with wings and a mask. The ex of Scott Disick was posed in her home.

11 /23 0.3 Anastacia fights back tears as she thanks Strictly Come Dancing for 'helping her find her female' on emotional exit Singer Anastacia became the sixth celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing dance on Sunday. After her Halloween- themed jive failed to impress the voting public, she and partner Brendan Cole faced model Daisy Lowe and Aljaz Skorjanec in the dance-off. The judges voted unianimously to save Daisy and as she exited, Anastacia thanked the BBC One show for helping her 'find her female,' following her highly-publicised double mastectomy. Scroll down for video Speaking to presenter Tess Daly after the result, Anastacia said: 'I've really enjoyed being here. 'This was a place for me to get to know my "female" and this place allowed me to do that; the hair, the make-up, the production, the judges gave me great comments.' Cole also had warm words for his partner, adding: 'This programme will miss you. I will miss you. 'Thank you for teaching me so much about everything and for being a fantastic partner. Thank you so much, what a great ride.' Fright Night - on which the duo had performed a bat-themed jive to Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell - had been their first time performing together since Brendan was forced to skip a week due to a chest infection. Brendan was replaced by fellow professional Gorka Marquez last week, but seemed determined to return to the show to dance with Anastacia this weekend. When it came down to the judges, Daisy and Skorjanec received a unanimous vote for their Mexican Day of the Dead take on a paso doble to Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood by Santa Esmeralda. Known for his dramatic compliments and theatrical feedback, judge Bruno Tonioli said: 'I'd like to say both girls put up a fierce fight... 'But overall I would like to choose the couple that satisfied me with content, gave me quality of movement, power of performance - Daisy and Aljaz.' Anastacia's appearance on the show has been an emotional rollercoaster. In Week One, the US musician was controversially pulled from the Dance-Off when she ripped her mastectomy scar tissue during rehearsals. She struggled through her Saturday night performance, but said that a repeat performance would be too risky on the Sunday night, leading producers to pull the Dance-Off for the first time in the show's history. The elimination therefore came down to the public vote and saw the couple with the lowest votes, Melvin Odoom and Janette Manrara, exit the competition. Just this week, television regulating body Ofcom has rejected a decision to further investigate complaints about the controversial Dance-Off decision. The BBC One show's Halloween special was the most watched programme on UK television on Saturday, with an average of 10 million viewers tuning in to watch the remaining contestants pull off their deadliest dances. It smashed ITV1's X Factor ratings, which averaged an audience of 5.7 million, for another week running. Dressed as a mad scientist ex-Labour MP Ed Balls scored his highest place on the judges' leader board so far with an electrifying cha cha cha packed with crotch-grabs and pelvic thrusts to Hansel Martinez's version of Love Potion No. 9. Head judge Len Goodman called it Balls' 'best dance yet'.

12 /23 1.1 David Cassidy throws tantrum onstage as he angrily orders a fan to shut off cellphone light during a concert He recently revealed that he has had five eye surgeries. And on Saturday, David Cassidy did not take kindly to a fan who shined a cellphone camera light in his face. During his concert at the Hudson Valley Theater in New York, the former Partridge Family star became angry and demanded security eject the concert attendee immediately. 'Turn it out!' David, 66, can be heard yelling in fan-filmed video. 'It's not,' he appeared to clarify, before firmly raising his voice again. 'Turn it off and turn it out, now!' In a video obtained by TMZ , David appeared to stop his performance to ask the unseen fan to 'please turn that light out.' He angrily then questioned the fan's capability to comprehend. 'I have had five eye surgeries. Are you that insensitive? Are you that stupid or deaf?' He then demanded that the fan be taken out of the concert, or he stop performing. 'Please have an usher remove this person. Get them to turn it off or else I'm not going on anymore.' He noted that he was already blinded, presumably by the stage lights. Eventually, the concert attendee appeared to have been removed. The Daydream vocalist reportedly entered rehab sometime recently. DailyMail.com revealed that he checked into Recovery Unplugged, a facility in Florida. A check written for $793.99 towards the rehab centre was revealed in bankruptcy documents filed last month. It is not known if he is still attending, and whether he is an in or out patient. His time in rehab followed a probation conviction after a DUI hit-and-run earlier this year.

13 /23 3.6 Duke relies on Kennard’s big minutes after unforeseen injuries Luke Kennard played almost 30 minutes before his first breather.

That wasn’t the plan going into Friday’s exhibition game against Virginia State, but the Duke sophomore’s big minutes were largely necessary.

Matt Jones’ hamstring began nagging early.

Grayson Allen took a hit to his shoulder in the first half.

That left Kennard carrying the weight of guard play in Duke’s 90-59 victory over CIAA favorite Virginia State at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Kennard, a sophomore guard, led the game with 36 minutes and 30 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the field. He finished 11-of-12 from the free thrown line and grabbed six rebounds, all on the offensive end where Duke dominated, 27-18.

In a scrimmage the week leading up to the exhibition, Kennard scored 44 points.

“Luke was outstanding,” coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “That’s how Luke’s been playing. He doesn’t have to force me to play him. He’s played great. I think, to be quite frank with it, he’s played the best overall since we started practice.”

Kennard didn’t disappoint when the lineup became young in the absence of Allen, a junior, and Jones, a senior. Kennard played with four freshmen on the floor at one point and complemented youngsters Marques Bolden (25 minutes) and Frank Jackson (31 minutes).

Kennard did a bit of everything as a poised vet on the floor. He handed out two assists and came away with two steals. With 7 seconds left in the first half, he got a piece of a Virginia State ball. Though the Trojans maintained possession after the contact, they were flustered and committed a shot clock violation. Duke led 40-27 at the break, with Kennard being the only player on the floor the entire 20 minutes.

“Practice is really competitive, and we play a lot of five-on-five, contact up and down the court,” Kennard said. “Our conditioning is really, really good. We had a couple of injuries in the first half, so I had to kind of stay in there. They wanted me to stay out there and kind of control the team and direct everybody, so that’s what I had to do.”

Kennard was part of a mini run in the middle of the first half against Virginia State, initiated by a big Allen 3-pointer. Allen was returning to the floor for the first time since taking a bump the shoulder and being evaluated on the sideline. His first shot was from deep to break up Duke’s stubborn 10-point lead against the Trojans.

Kennard followed up the surge by knocking down a basket on a cross-court pass from Allen.

“I think that could have been a turning point, but what kind of kept us going was Luke,” said Allen, who dumped in 13 points. “He was very poised up top and … in the game. We weren’t really expecting to have me and Matt off the court at the same time.”

The Allen and Jones dings add to a flurry of early-season Duke injuries. The Blue Devils played without freshmen Harry Giles (knee) and Jayson Tatum (foot) and junior Sean Obi (knee) on Friday.

Krzyzewski said the team will have two days of therapy before taking the floor for practice again Monday.

“That’s why we do these games,” he said. “They were playing in some unusual situations tonight because of our physical condition. It’s kind of nuts right now.

“We have to get healthy.”

15 /23 1.2 20 years ago: ‘Uh, Utah, we have a problem’ Editor's note: Every Sunday, the Deseret News takes a quick look back into our archives.

The Utah Jazz held the Houston Rockets to 75 points, which would usually be good enough for a win. Unless you shoot 39.2 percent from the field, commit 16 turnovers and score a then franchise-low 72 points yourselves.

Not since Oct. 17, 1974, in the franchises first game, had a Jazz team scored in that neighborhood. And that squad totaled 74 points. Utah would manage just 54 points against the Chicago Bulls in a 1997-98 NBA Finals game.

16 /23 0.0 Utah Jazz matchup watch: Clippers' DeAndre Jordan vs. Jazz's Rudy Gobert The Utah Jazz are back on the road as they travel to Los Angeles to face off with the Clippers in Staples Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Clippers are 1-0 on the season after a road win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

One of the main matchups to watch in the game will be the battle at center between Rudy Gobert and DeAndre Jordan.

The two have faced off seven times since Gobert entered the league in 2014, with Jordan and the Clippers holding the 6-1 advantage.

The key for Gobert to slow down Jordan is to limit his rebounding opportunities. While it is nearly impossible to keep Jordan off the boards completely, slowing him down is something that would help the Jazz's chances for a big road win.

According to Basketball-reference.com , Jordan averages 10.7 rebounds in 326 career wins and 8.3 rebounds in 267 regular season losses. His offensive rebounds also take a hit in losses from 3.33 to 2.73.

One way Gobert can limit Jordan on the glass is to rebound well himself. In 79 wins with the Jazz, he averages 10.2 boards a night while averaging just 7.4 rebounds in 111 losses.

In the five losses the Jazz have had against Clippers with Gobert on the floor for more than 15 minutes, he has been out-rebounded by Jordan 12.4 to 5.8. In the lone Jazz win, the two tied with 11 boards.

17 /23 2.9 South Africa's AMCU union to sign wage deals with platinum trio JOHANNESBURG, Oct 30 (Reuters) - South Africa's AMCU union said on Sunday it is ready to sign three-year wage deals with the country's big three platinum producers. The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) said on Thursday it had agreed a pay rise deal with Anglo American Platinum, but had yet to say whether it would agree to deals with Impala Platinum and Lonmin. "Members have given the leadership the mandate to sign all three wage agreements with the platinum companies," the union said on its twitter page on Sunday, without giving details. AMCU spokesman Manzini Zungu could not be contacted immediately by Reuters, but the union was due to hold a media briefing on Monday to disclose details of the agreements. Implats spokesman Johan Theron and Lonmin spokeswoman Wendy Tlou said they would wait for the official signing before disclosing details. Amplats and AMCU agreed to pay hikes of between 7 percent and 12.5 percent annually over the next three years, depending on the level of employment. AMCU, known for its militancy and aggressive stance in wage talks, had pushed for wage hikes of close to 50 percent. (Reporting by Olivia Kumwenda-Mtambo; Editing by Susan Fenton)

18 /23 3.2 Amazon Prime Launches in China Without Digital Content E-commerce giant Amazon has launched its Prime subscription service in China – but shorn of its online music and video operations.

Instead Amazon Prime China will offer unlimited free shipping within China on millions of items and also on some categories of goods shipped from overseas. The cost is $28 (RMB188) during the promotional period that runs till February, and will rise to $57 (RMB388) thereafter.

The company did not explain the video and music omissions, though the answer is likely to be regulatory. China does not allow foreign media to operate freely in the country and video rival Netflix recently admitted that it saw no prospect of being allowed to enter China in the near future.

“We cannot run our normal playbook in China,” Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said in a news conference last week.

Chinese authorities have this year been pushing back against foreign media. DisneyLife, a content joint venture between Alibaba and Disney was taken off air in April only four months after it launched inline. Similarly, Apple’s iTunes Music and iBooks were also halted.

While the closure of DisneyLife can have done little harm to Alibaba – it has numerous other entertainment options including streaming video platform Youku Tudou – the launch of Prime is a move by Amazon that strikes at Alibaba’s Chinese home and its core business.

Amazon’s strategy currently appears to be about offering a wider choice of foreign goods to Chinese consumers than are currently available via Alibaba, JD.com or other smaller e- commerce operators.

Online shopping has proved hugely popular in China with some RMB16 trillion transacted last year – an increase of 21% — and 23% shoppers buy goods from abroad. Alibaba has teamed up with numerous foreign brands and retailers such as Barney of New York.

20 /23 1.0 X Factor Australia's Iggy Azalea slams rumours of a feud with Mel B They've been rumoured to be feuding behind the scenes of The X Factor Australia. But on Sunday, judge Iggy Azalea slammed the speculation about herself and fellow mentor Mel B live on the show, saying she's admired the Spice Girl for years. While critiquing Mel's act Beatz, Iggy addressed reports of a feud, noting that women are always pitted against one another before admitting: 'I used to dress in leopard print for four years because of this one!' Scroll down for video The Australian rapper was referring to the British pop star's style when performing as Scary Spice with the Spice Girls in the 90s. The conversation kicked off when Jason Dundas asked Iggy for her opinion on Beatz - being a mentor to rival girl group Aya - with the host noting 'there can only be room for one girl group on the show.' Iggy, 26, chimed in, asking 'Who said that? Coming from a man!' She then spoke about her rumoured feud with the Spice Girl after being asked how Beatz 'stack up against a girl group.' 'You know I also hate it has to be a girl band thing. It feels old to me. I'm a woman in the music industry,' Iggy began. 'I'm sure Mel you can relate. It's always like, even with me on the show, "do you like Mel? " 'I look up to Mel,' Iggy said, before revealing she took style cues from the Spice Girl. 'I think there's room for both of you. You bring something different. I love you guys. 'I love your makeover. I love your hair. I love the whole thing,' the Australian star added. Beatz performed a mash up of Brownstone's If You Love Me and Willow Smith's Whip My Hair - which featured a special appearance on-stage by Mel's two youngest daughters Angel, nine, and Madison, five. Recently, Mel B stormed off during a live Sunrise interview when being quizzed about her reported feud with Iggy. The 41-year-old was defensive when answering questions about the apparent feud, and stormed off-set when co- hosts Natalie Barr and David 'Kochie' Koch pushed the issue. As she stormed off the couch, the svelte reality TV judge walked up to the camera insisting her relationship with the rapper was on good terms, saying: 'We get along fine'. While the Spice Girls star looked displeased by the line of questioning she did have a little chuckle as she walked past the camera, as did the hosts, suggesting it was all in good fun. When asked about fights that play out on-and-off air between various judges and Iggy, the singer quickly responded saying it was healthy to disagree. 'If we all said the same thing, it would be a boring show. It is nice. I think she is gorgeous,' she said. Despite being known as Scary Spice and being labelled by the show as 'TV's scariest judge', the Brit said she doesn't believe Iggy was scared or threatened by her joining the show. 'No. She has got a massive career and is highly successful,' she said of the 26-year-old TV judge. 'We get along. I know you are trying to get some rivalry between us, but there isn't any.' Fellow judge Guy Sebastian fuelled the start of the predicted clashes in various interviews, and made his stance known to other judges during the video cross where Mel was revealed as the 'underdog judge'. He told fellow judges Iggy and Adam Lambert: 'She got the title of Scary Spice for a reason!' 'I know how competitive she is,' Guy added, having worked with Mel before on a previous season of The X Factor Australia. 'I wouldn't mess with her,' he advised the others. And just days after Guy predicted the clash, she downplayed any tension, insisting she's actually a fan of the rapper to Who Magazine. Returning three years after her last stint on the show, Mel said: 'I come from a group that preached girl power. It isn't fair to presume we're not going to get along just because we're both women,' the Brit reacted. She added: 'People want to pit us against each other... but I've met Iggy before and she's lovely. I think we're going to have fun.'

22 /23 0.0 Demi Lovato dresses up as a very busty Dorothy Gale for Halloween... while Nick Jonas goes as Scarecrow They performed Oscar-winning songs 74 years apart. And on Saturday night Demi Lovato and Judy Garland were reunited in costume. The 24-year-old made a very sexy Dorothy Gale as she dressed up for a Halloween party. The singer shared some very busty selfies with her 49million Instagram followers as she squeezed into the iconic Wizard Of Oz wardrobe. With smoky eye shadow, plenty of blush and a deep red lip, she looked a lot more grown up than the innocent 16-year-old Garland back in 1939. Nevertheless she kept the blue ribboned pigtails to match the blue and white checkered dress to remain as faithful as possible, although the sheer lace trim across her cleavage was certainly a modern addition. While neither Academy Award for Best Original Song belongs to them, Somewhere Over The Rainbow is as synonymous with Garland as Frozen's Let It Go is with Lovato. Dorothy of course is nothing without her squad; and it was Nick Jonas who backed her up on the night as the brainless Scarecrow. Wearing an impressive straw-stuffed costume, the 24-year-old - perhaps in character - typed out the word 'scarecrow' on each of his Instagram stories, just in case anybody hadn't figured it out. The duo was also accompanied by a superb Cowardly Lion - complete with medal of bravery - although it wasn't immediately clear who was behind the facepaint. Both posted some scary clips of a haunted house they braved together. Jonas and Lovato clearly aren't sick of the sight of each other, despite completing a 47-date tour together just ten days ago. Their double-header Future Now tour kicked off back in June, and saw them play dozens of shows in the US, Canada and Mexico, as well as a single show in Turkey.
