Water Aid Nigeria Expression of Interest WaterAid is a UK registered international charity dedicated to the provision of safe water, sanitation and hygiene to the world’s poorest people. WaterAid has worked in Nigeria since 1996 and partners with the government and people of Nigeria to develop sustainable access to water, sanitation and hygiene. We currently implement our programmes in 6 states- Benue, Jigawa, Plateau, Bauchi, Ekiti and Enugu States. Towards our programme implementation for the current year, WaterAid Nigeria hereby invites eligible companies to apply for pre-qualification as contractors for the Construction/rehabilitation of boreholes and institutional latrines in Igbo-Eze North, Udenu, Nkanu East, Igbo-Eze South and Igbo-Etiti Local Government of Enugu State. The engagement shall be an annual contract and shall be renewable at the end of each year based on performance. Pre-qualification Requirements Interested companies are required to submit the following:- (a) Certificate of incorporation as a company in Nigeria issued by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) (b) Documentary evidence describing similar assignments with verifiable proof including years of experience. (c) Detailed company profile providing information on office location, staff strength and equipment capacity. (e) Evidence of financial capability. Submission and Closing Date:- Two copies of the documents in a sealed envelope and clearly marked “Pro-qualification Documents” written at the top right hand side of the envelope should be submitted to:- Enugu State Small Town Unit, EN-RUWASSA 7th Floor, Old CCB building, OkparaAvenue, Beside EEDC, Enugu Enugu State C/O Christopher Ogbu Tel; 08083865425 The sealed envelope should be submitted at the above address not later than 4pm on 11thDecember, 2014. Late submission will not be accepted. Please Note: WaterAid reserves the right to reject any or all the submissions which do not meet the requirements as specified. The evaluation of the received documents shall be strictly based on the requirements as specified above. Please note that only qualified companies shall be notified at the end of the exercise. .

Abstract: The Evaluation of the groundwater potential status in Nkanu-west Local government area of Enugu State has been undertaken. The project area lies within latitudes 060 25I 00IIN to 060 38I 00IIN and Longitudes 0070 13I 00IIE to 0070 24I 00IIE with an area extent of about 489.4sqkm, over two main geological formations. A total of Seventy-Eight Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) were acquired, employing the Schlumberger configuration. Resistivity and thickness of aquiferous layers were obtained from the interpreted VES data. Contour variation maps of Apparent resistivity, depth, traverse resistance, Longitudinal conductance, Electrical conductivity, aquifer transmissivity and hydraulic conductivity were constructed. Computed aquifer transmissivity from VES data, indicates medium to low yield aquifer. The latter was used to evaluate the groundwater potential status. Two groundwater potential were mapped; the moderate and low potential zones. The various contour maps and groundwater potential zone map will serve as a useful guide for groundwater exploration in the study area. Both Secondary and Primary Data were used for data collection. Percentage and frequency distribution were used to determine the socio-economic characteristic of palm oil marketers and the identification of the constraints facing the level of palm oil marketers, the result showed that 60.83% of the respondents were females, while 37.17% were males. The Age bracket of 31 – 40 constituted the majority (37.50%) of palm oil marketers in the study area. The result also indicates that married people were more involved in the palm oil marketing which accounted for 51.7% in the study area. 40.00% of the respondents had primary education, while the least 13.33% had tertiary education. The major sources of income of the respondents were trading which accounted for 37.50%; this shows that palm oil business is a profitable enterprise and it worth investing.

Introduction The assertion that the several towns and villages in the Nkanu clan of the Igbo country are unrelated (Milgov 1936) to one another may after all not be true. A closer study of certain characteristics of the social organizations, legends of origin, economic and political institutions among the village groups and people tends to counter this assertion. In other words, some of the groups can hardly accept such a description, as very often they prefer to trace their origins to a common source. For instance, Agbani and Akpugo, are said to trace their origin to Ubuleke Ukulu (the founder of Akpugo). According to tradition, it was Ani Obodo, the son of Ubuleke, who founded Agbani. It is believed that at a time out of human memory, Ani Obodo wandered away from Obele Akpugo (the present Akpugo where Ukulu had lived) on a hunting expedition. While resting under an Agba tree, continued the source, it occurred to his (Ani Obodo's) sub- conscious that the land on which he was hunting was rich enough for human settlement. He thus settled there, and named it Agbani, after the Agba tree (Enechukwu1993:31; Eze, Mbah and Ezeah 1999:27). Until date, this myth of common origin is known to bind Agbani and Akpugo together.

International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR) ISSN (Online): 2319-7064 Index Copernicus Value (2013): 6.14 | Impact Factor (2014): 5.611 Solid Mineral Resources of ENUGU State: A Review Onyeabor Chinenye Florence Department of Geology and Mining, Enugu State University of Science and Technology Abstract: Enugu state, southeastern Nigeria is endowed with many natural resources which include coal, oil shale, gas, glass sands, ironstone, clay minerals, limestone, gypsum and alum. They occur in various formations of the state which includes Enugu Shale, Mamu Formation, Ajali Formation, Nsukka Formation and Imo shale. The minerals presently under exploitation are clay, sand, ironstone with others being under exploited or found in an uneconomic reserve. Mining of coal ceased since the 1990’s hence reducing drastically the economic hub of the state. The return to coal exploitation and other solid minerals will enhance the economic output of the state. Keywords: Glass sands; coal; ironstone; limestone; mineral 1. Introduction Enugu state is one of the key states in Southeastern Nigeria. Enugu has served as capital of various defunct geopolitical regions known as Eastern Region, East Central State and Anambra State. The state is situated within longitudes 60501E and long.70521E and latitudes 60001N and lat.70101N. The entire areal extent is 7,161 sq. kilometers and the estimated population is 4,267,837 people (Census 2006). Presently Enugu State consists of 17 local government areas (fig.1). It is bordered to the north by Benue state and to the west by Anambra state, to the east by Ebonyi state, and Abia State to the south.
