Frazier School District e-Communications April 5, 2019 “Inspire and Empower” District Frazier High School Regional business leaders shadow students at Frazier High School Five Pittsburgh-area executives exchanged the office for the classroom as they became students for a day on a recent visit to Frazier High School. Corporate leaders from some of the region’s most recognizable companies and organizations joined Frazier students for a full day of instruction as part of the CEO in the Classroom shadowing experience to gather insight about what and how students are learning. Congratulations, Brody! Lawrence golden again The Frazier wrestling standout claims his second consecutive state championship. The title of two-time state champion now belongs to Frazier’s Thayne Lawrence. The junior standout picked up his second gold medal in as many years at the PIAA Class 2A Championships at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Lawrence cruised into the championship match with three decisive victories. He started the tournament with a 30 second pin, followed up with a 16-0 tech fall and an 11-4 decision in the semifinal. Congratulations, Thayne! The team went undefeated this season defeating the likes of Laurel Highlands, California and . The girls went 13-0 and are the TRICADA Middle School Section Champs! It looks like we'll be updating that banner in the gymnasium ladies. Way to go on a great year! PSSA - Pennsylvania System of School Assessment Throughout the month of April, students across the commonwealth will be participating in PSSA assessment testing. Students in grades six, seven and eight will all participate in english and mathematics segments, while grade eight will also be administered a science section. All testing will be done in the mornings, it is important for your child to be in school each day. Please, if you must take your child for a scheduled appointment, do so in the afternoon. Breakfast will be served each morning to all students beginning at 7:25. A very special congratulations goes out to Frazier Middle School’s very own Rune Lawrence. Rune won the Pennsylvania Junior High State Championship earlier this month in the 132 lb weight class! Way to go! CUPCAKE WARS! Students in Mrs. Elliott's third nine weeks grade eight class completed “Cupcake Wars” their culminating class activity. Students worked in teams to design and create themed cupcakes. A group of teacher judges declared “April showers bring sunflowers!” the winner. Congratulations to everyone on a job well done. Frazier Elementary School Lego Education WeDo 2.0 Robotics Mrs. Brown, our 5th grade Science teacher, has launched the Lego Education WeDo 2.0 program! Students use Lego® bricks along with coding software to complete STEM projects. Students work with a partner to help build and code their project. The student-centered learning empowers students to explore and develop their creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication skills. It is our hope to incorporate this educational program into all classrooms in Grades 2-5.
