ALLEGES VIOLATION BY COMMUNITY CENTER BY RYAN GRANNAN-DOLL STAFF WRITER CHARLTON — The town broke the zoning bylaw when it opened the Community Center, according to Town Planner Alan Gordon. Members of the Activities Council, which operates the facility, deny that claim. Gordon said last week the council opened the town-owned facility at 4 Dresser Hill Road before receiving site plan approval. The Planning Board approved the plan Wednesday, March 3, after it was submitted Jan. 27. The Community Center, however, officially opened Saturday, Feb. 13. Since Alan Gordon then, the council has host- ed card games, ice cream socials and other activities. “It’s the Planning Board’s understanding it was open prior to the final vote,” Gordon said of the March 3 vote. “It was not proper proce- dure.” Once the Planning Board notified Town Where have all the candidates gone?
