Welcome to the Parish of Saint Augustin

Our mission is to give glory to God and seek the salvation of souls by making Jesus Christ known and loved through worship, evangelization, community, fellowship, reconciliation and stewardship. May 23, 2021 Begin by taking a moment to calm yourself, focus on your breathing and become aware of the life force that flows through your veins. Center yourself in the words and affections of St. Augustine’s Prayer to the Holy Spirit, “Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that I may always be holy.” Sanctifying, bringing things to wholeness, blessing, restoring and creating are just some of the fruits of the presence of the Holy Spirit. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not always about proclaiming loud cries of praise or singing alleluia from a roof top. It is about unfolding and encountering the ordinary in an extraordinary way. Being filled with the Holy Spirit means being filled with the fullness of God’s life and in touch with the power and wonder of God’s presence. It’s about becoming holy. When an ordinary, humble person becomes connected with life and the wondrous power of God’s love, they begin to live life more deeply. Their senses become attuned to the Author of life and they realize that they are not alone. The Holy Spirit connects all of the dots of human experience and existence, bringing everyone to center on the Divine Presence. The Holy Spirit does not just breathe “on me” but in me” and is the force behind every breath I take. It is the Holy Spirit, through the ministry of the church most especially, who guides us THE DESCENT OF THE HOLY GHOST to truth and shows us the way to be JOZEF SEDMAK graced and the holy human beings God made us to be. Lectors bring the living Word of God to the liturgical assembly, and through them God speaks to the gathered faithful. The Word of God is not merely read during the liturgy, it is proclaimed. Proclamation is a special ministry which presupposes faith and also rouses faith in those who hear the Word proclaimed. When the word is proclaimed in the Church and put into living practice, it enlightens the faithful through the working of the Holy Spirit and draws them into the entire mystery of the Lord as a reality to be lived.

We are looking for volunteers to serve as Lectors. We are especially in need at the 5:00 pm Saturday evening Mass and at the 12:00 pm Mass on Sunday.

If you are discerning a call to Lector or have any questions, please contact Deacon Kevin & Rhonda Heim at [email protected] or at (515) 274-4321.
