  • Colne River Valley
    1. Colne River Valley Key plan Description The Colne River Valley Natural Landscape Area follows the Colne Within the northern Colne Valley, the settlement pattern is relatively River north to south on the western fringe of Greater London, from sparse, although there is a corridor of villages along the Grand Union Stocker’s Lake near Batchworth in the north to Heathrow Airport in Canal. To the south the valley is more densely developed than the the south. Between Batchworth and Uxbridge the valley floor consists north, with industrial towns such as Uxbridge, Yiewsley and West of a series of lakes and reservoirs, edged by ridges and plateaux within Drayton and London’s largest airport, Heathrow. The historic cores the neighbouring Ruislip Plateau (NLA 2) and the Hayes Gravels (NLA which remain within the settlements of Harefield, Uxbridge, West 10). As the River Colne meanders south and the Grand Union Canal Drayton and Harmondsworth suggest how settlement patterns have heads east, the topography gradually levels; historically the River evolved within this area. Despite the intense residential and industrial Colne would have meandered wider here, resulting in an extensive development around Uxbridge, the linear open space corridors area of deep silt soil across an exceptionally wide floodplain. The that follow the River Colne, Grand Union Canal and the lakes that Colne River Valley has been and continues to be important both as a they support are dominant landscape features. London Loop section 13 page 1 LONDON LOOP Section 13 of 24 Harefield West to Moor Park Section start: Harefield West Nearest station to start: Uxbridge (Metropolitan and Piccadilly Lines) then U9 bus Section finish: Moor Park Nearest station to finish: Moor Park (Metropolitan Line) Section distance 4.7 miles plus 0.5 miles of station links Total = 5.2 miles (8.4 km) Introduction This is a very pleasant section keeping away from settlements, going through remote countryside and luxuriant woodland. It is an easy walk mainly on rough paths, tracks and grass. There is a steep hill soon after the start, otherwise the path is fairly level with some gentle slopes. There are several stiles some of which are quite high. After wet weather the field paths can be marshy and some woodland paths are cut up by horse riders. The walk starts at Harefield West, which can be reached by bus from Uxbridge station; it finishes at Moor Park station. The route goes away from the Grand Union Canal through parks and wood. Highlights are the ancient Park and Bishop's Woods and the Ye Olde Greene Manne pub with its connections to Dick Turpin, and Moor Park Mansion. You may see red kites circling overhead. There are cafés and pubs at Woodcock Hill and Batchworth Heath, but no public toilets until Moor Park. Note that the Moor Park toilets are on a platform and kept locked except during peak periods. You can shorten the route by taking a bus from Batchworth Heath. • Ickenham Neighbourhood Forum Application
Ickenham Neighbourhood Plan Area application and Ickenham Neighbourhood Forum application Neighbourhood Plan Area application The historic Middlesex village of Ickenham, now part of suburban Greater London, has a strong sense of identity and community spirit. At the 2011 census, roughly 12,000 people lived in the village and our proposed Neighbourhood Area corresponds with local feedback on our borders. Those borders have changed over the centuries, but have remained largely constant since the Chiltern railway and RAF Northolt divided Ickenham from Harefield and Ruislip one hundred years ago, and since the Western Avenue was constructed to our south in the 1950s. Proposed Ickenham Neighbourhood Plan Area A more detailed zoomable map can be viewed on our website here: https://ickenhamplan.wordpress.com/what-area-would-a-plan-cover/ 1 The starting point for the proposed neighbourhood area came from discussions with the Ickenham and Ruislip Gardens Residents’ Associations. Once we had established a proposed area, we consulted Residents’ Associations and Ward Councillors in neighbouring Ruislip, North Hillingdon, North Uxbridge and Harefield. Put simply, this is Ickenham. To the best of our knowledge, everyone living in the proposed area think they live in Ickenham and furthermore, we believe that nobody living outside the proposed area think that they live in Ickenham. Feedback has strongly suggested that we should write a neighbourhood plan for all of Ickenham, rather than just the built-up part of the village, or for the Ickenham electoral ward. Any other boundary would not be an Ickenham boundary, and would exclude parts of the village that people know and love.

  • Teacher of Music Full-Time Or Part-Time – TLR Opportunity for the Right Candidate MPS (Outer London)
External Ref: THA239 Teacher of Music Full-time or part-time – TLR opportunity for the right candidate MPS (Outer London) The Harefield Academy is an 11-18 comprehensive school, with a small state boarding facility. In our most recent HMI visit in May 2017, the inspector reported that “The school has been transformed. I saw that both staff and pupils have high expectations of work and behaviour.” As a smaller than average school, we are able to get to know each student well and respond effectively to their learning needs as a result. Similarly our staff work together in a collaborative, supportive and cohesive way with common purpose. We offer a comprehensive programme of continued professional development for teachers at all levels across the school, through numerous collaborative networks and across our friendly and well established Trust to help staff to progress. This is an exciting time for The Harefield Academy as we continue to go from strength to strength. The Music Department is a small but strong Department which forms part of the Technology and Visual and Performing Arts (TVPA) Faculty. The TVPA Faculty has a pivotal role within The Academy and stages a number of exciting and successful musical and drama events during the year. An ability and willingness to lead and support with such events would form a part of this role. Many of our students have an aptitude for music and we run a successful programme of one to one lessons offered by our peripatetic music teachers. The facilities at The Academy are excellent; we have two music classrooms and two additional sound proof practice rooms.

The Harefield Academy Achievement through Active Learning Northwood Way, Harefield, Uxbridge, Middlesex, UB9 6ET T: 01895 822108 F: 01895 822414 E: [email protected] W: www.theharefieldacademy.org Principal: Tash Moriarty BA PGCE 28th April 2016 Dear Parents/Carers, I would like to advise you of a strategy we are implementing in The Academy to support with improved behaviour. We have introduced a ‘Restore, Reflect and Reset room’ into which students will be booked for a day if their behaviour is preventing their own learning or the learning of others. Whilst in this room, students will be expected to work in silence for the duration of the school day under the supervision of a senior member of staff. They will be provided with work from the lessons out of which they have been removed so they do not fall behind. Whilst they will of course be facilitated with a lunch break and comfort breaks, this will not be in the company of other students. During the course of the day, students will receive a restorative session with their Student Manager at which point they will be expected to reflect upon their behaviour and its impact. We will inform you if it has been necessary to issue this sanction to your son/daughter. We hope very much that this will support students at risk of exclusion by allowing a structured opportunity to reflect on their poor behaviour; to reset to more appropriate behaviour and to restore their learning to an appropriate level. Where students demonstrate persistent poor behaviour or risk the safety of themselves or others, they will of course still be likely to receive a fixed term exclusion.
