Noah Belew’s Buttery Biscuits

Preheat oven to 450 degrees

2 cups Pioneer Buttermilk Biscuit Mix of self-rising flour. (I prefer the Pioneer Mix. It comes in a box and it can be found in most food stores.)

1/4 cup Crisco shortening

About 3/4 cup of buttermilk

Place flour in mixing bowl. Add Crisco, and buttermilk. Mix with hand and kneed for about 3 minutes. Add more butter- milk if needed. If its too soft, add more flour.

Turn dough onto a floured surface; kneed 3 or 4 more times. Roll to 1/2-inch biscuit cutter or water glass. Place on baking sheet and bake at 450 degrees for about 10 minutes. Yield: about 2 dozen.

A BETTER CHOICE FOR BREAST HEALTH

Gulf Breeze Hospital is thrilled to announce that we now offer the latest technology in breast cancer screening, 3-D digital mammography.

A 3-D mammogram provides sharper, clearer images, which can lead to earlier detection if cancer is present. Baptist Health Care is the only local health care organization offering women access to both digital and 3-D digital mammography.

When breast cancer is detected and treated early, the chance for cure is nearly 100 percent. To learn more or schedule a mammogram reminder, visit eBaptistHealthCare.org/DigitalMammography. For an appointment, call 850.932.7500, option 2.

I have lived and practiced law here since 1987 and, having always enjoyed newspapers, over these 23 years I have subscribed to and read all the area‘s ‘local papers’ including, of course, Gannett’s Pensacola News Journal. I have to say, however, and would like your readers to know as well, that in my opinion none of these publications have served their overall readership as effectively as Gulf Breeze News. All of us who live and/or work in this special area are truly fortunate that Gulf Breeze News publishes an excellent weekly newspaper that is informative and accurate as well as appealing to a great cross section of our unique and diverse community.
