(Operation using USB 2.0 drivers other than ones produced by Microsoft Corporation is not guaranteed.) – USB 2.0 certified cable Use the 2-m cable supplied with the UP-990AD/UP- 970AD.

*) Operations of all of devices which conform to USB 2.0, or all USB 2.0 extension boards/extension cards cannot be guaranteed.

Note If you connect the UP-990AD/UP-970AD to your computer when the printer is on, make sure that the operation of your computer is not suspended or that it is not on stand-by. Connecting the UP-990AD/UP-970AD to your computer when it is in one of the states above may cause erratic operation.

1 Connect the UP-990AD/UP-970AD to the computer.

2 Turn on the UP-990AD/UP-970AD.

3 Turn on the computer, and then log on as the system administrator or a member of the Administrators group.

After Windows 2000 starts, the [Found New Hardware Wizard] dialog box opens. 5 Select [Search for a suitable driver ...], and then click the [Next] button.

If the [Found New Hardware Wizard] dialog box does not appear Perform the following procedure while the UP- 990AD/UP-970AD is turned on and connected to the computer. (Perform the following procedure without any printer except the UP-990AD/UP- 970AD being connected by USB.)

Installation with Windows 2000 8 Removing the Printer Configuring the Printer Driver Configure the printer properties before using the printer to print from applications. Restore Defaults Restores the settings to their default values.

[Message] Tab Select the display position of message dialog boxes.

Adjust the display position Select this check box to adjust the display position of message dialog boxes. The message dialog box appears in the position defined by the values specified in the [Horizontal] and [Vertical] boxes.

Horizontal and Vertical Defines the position of message dialog boxes, using the upper-left corner of the screen as the origin.
